here's a few tracks i've been working on the past few days. all fairly different in terms of genre. they're maybe not entirely finished, though is anything ever?

Hey, good start! It's good that you're keeping things simple. When you're new to something I think it's important to start simple. I used to go on these big projects when I was new and I realize now that that was a bad idea. Instead I should have made simple tracks, and tried a new thing or two every track I did. Instead of taking a week on a track I should have been taking a day or two.

Even now if I'm introduced to a new concept with producing I'll always start simple with what I'm doing. I tend to jam a lot, which is really codeword for experimentation. The tracks don't make sense in sequence and each bit is a new idea. OH YES and when I find a combination I really like, I write it down. I suggest you do the same, and keep a diary of sorts... well I don't have a diary, but I have a folder which I store ideas in and read every once in a while. You'd be surprised at how much you forget you did a month ago and sometimes it's back to the drawing board if you forgot how to do something.

Anyway, the point I was making is that you are doing good by keeping simple and in these little experiments always try something new.

thanks! haha, i wish i knew how to stick to one idea. most of the time it'll go like i'm working on one thing then suddenly i have an idea for something else and i just abandon the thing i was already working on :derp:

anyways, i made a 33rpm mix of rotten since i like how it sounds.

That totally happens to me too. Out of one finished track there is usually about 10 or 15 abandoned tracks that get started and then I'll stop as different ideas come to the fore. Sometimes though, very rarely, I'll create something from start to finish really quickly.

The abandoned tracks are sometimes good to go back to though or to sample the best bits and use in future projects.

Solid start. Main thing now is just to keep going and gradually get more adventurous. All of your tracks have like just a couple of elements in them, and that's totally to be expected. There are a lot of ways to branch out: more adventurous arrangement, more adventurous melodies. The point of art is just to grow. Good luck! (Followed you to watch your progress.)
