Thinking of getting a 3DSXL. It comes bundled with a Pokemon game. I'm not sure if I should go for it? Are Pokemon games just for kids? I used to have one for my original Gameboy but I was a fair bit younger then.

You want Pokemon X/Y scheduled for Fall 2013, they finally revamped their engine to take advantage of the 3DS graphic capabilities. Monter battles are also finally rendered in an attractive art style instead of 1998 2D sprites.

Hello gamers. I just saw an advert for Aliens: Colonial Marines and started dreaming about the idea of sticking an i5 CPU in my Dell Optiplex 745. I am consumed by the urge to buy one if i can get confirmation it will fit in the casing. I think it would be cool to have this dell as a gaming unit, its about the same size as an xBox and has a kinda ''whoa there, easy tiger'' factor about it. Probably a dumb idea. I searched it and it was all dumbasses arguing about whether it would work or not. Do you gamers think this is possible?

reviews sound like its an abortion from beginning to end, shame Gearbox put their name on it, apparently they subbed most of the development to another inferior studio anyway. Bummer, this was one of the reasons I got a Wii U.
  4. Watched Sleep Dealer last night. Wow, best thing I've seen in a while. Low-budget with kind of crappy CGI but otherwise it looked great, nice colors and set designs. Some dialog seemed stiff or cheesy but it was in Spanish so it didn't make me cringe.

Great story about globalization, drones, and the human impact of that sort of place-shifting. There was a lot of great symbolism or metaphor in here about this kind of stuff, several layers of it, actually, but it wasn't forced or confusing. The whole thing is just really lean and satisfying, no extra crap, nothing that didn't need to be in there.

I guess my only real criticism is with the dialog, there wasn't a whole lot of humor or great lines, it was all just moving the story along. But as a sci-fi movie it was very solid. Will definitely watch again.

I was impressed with Sleep Dealer as well, better than half the "cyberpunk" shit that seeps out of Hollywood.
  5. If Nintendo does learn anything from this and the upcoming generation, it is to make their next console their Portable AND Home console, pretty much how the Wii U feels now to play, except no limitations on distance from console unit. Imagine a future DS that links w home unit for downloads, updates, demos etc. and allows tv play, then is fully portable away from home. Basically I think they will combine DS and Wii U in the next generation to differentiate themselves from the competition ( although I'm sure Sony would love the same w PS3 and Vita) and also to compete with the maturing smart phone and tablet market.

  6. Looking at recent sale numbers, it looks like the Wii U is sinking like a stone in Japan, even with their Monster Hunter 3 bundle, and the free Dragon Quest X beta everyone gets who buys the console.

I think with the recent integration of Nintendo's portable and home console divisions, they might finally have to focus almost entirely on 3DS in Japan, and give the console race to the rest of the world.

Simply looks at the release schedules for 3DS compared to Wii U over the coming months, it does not look good for their home console in 2013.
