I like the Scarfolk blog, it's not as though Ghost Box have a monopoly on the weirder end of English '70s nostalgia, plus there's links to Belbury Poly and Ghost Box, etc, at the bottom. Credit where credit's due and all that. Most of the shopped posters and what have you are really well done, and it's cool to see someone rolling with that aesthetic in a primarily visual/text-based format, seeing as Belbury Poly et al have the musical angle covered.

I agree, Scarfolk is good fun, I'd suggest you give it a go if this is a scene that you are interested in. If anything rather than Ghost Box it's inspired by the frightening health and safety videos of that era.

advisory circle did loads of PIF tracks.

  2. yeah but this is sort of what vice does sometimes:

"We took a guy who hates aphex and made him listen to the entire soundcloud dump using only his laptop speakers (one of which is broken): SPONSORED BY BLUE BOLT AND BOOST BAR"

vice is occasionally great; see their north korea stuff, the thump series on 'the song that changed my life' (some real gems in there) and a lot of motherboard stuff.

when it goes wrong is when they realise 'oh shit, we're vice, we're meant to be all postmodern and jaded', or when they let clive martin do an article.

i mean this shit is just a great column: http://thump.vice.com/en_uk/columns/Heartbreakers

    fuckin tune

  5. Three Floyds Dark Lord. The sweetest stout I've ever had. Possibly the sweetest beer I've ever had. Like drinking Fudge. Definitely malty. Some flavors I couldn't quite put my finger on. Very chewy. Glad I tried, but the sweetness was too much for me.

This is not a terrible-good track, it just genuinely sucks. Jason DeRulo SUCKS!! Listen to those shitty trumpets and farted-out toy piano sounds. Listen to the lyrics that he demonstrably did not write while looking at the girl but rather scrawled out in the time it takes to splurt out a Taco Bell aftermath diarrhoetic crunkalanche. Listen to his autotuned caterwaul like a tomcat in heat with its pecker stuck in the tailpipe of a Mini Cooper. Just fucking TERRIBLE!

oh christ this fucking abortion. it was a big hit last christmas here. it makes the eno/hyde trumpets sound like coltrane.
