babylon systems... shake it!
rare enough i get to make a steely dan/dubstep pun lol
checkin it out anyways. yeah that subby imitation of palm mute is exactly what i'm on about. like this; distance - v
scorn is fucking heavy as.
what's particularly interesting is the route he took to arrive at this music, what with napalm death and godflesh and all that. i guess they heavyosity is the common thread.
i was listening to 'v' by distance today and thinking it's also got that 'chugchugchug' heavy thing going that you could nearly win a metalhead (well, a sunn o))) fan or a sabbath one or something, anyway) over with.
heard this one?
natural marcus - talk of the prejudiced (clouds version)
pretty much a traditional dub track, except for the two disgusting drops hahaha
new benga!
the a-side is very reminescent of a track off afro warrior, but the aa side, the germ is pretty sweet in a cinematic sort of way
also that new clouds track idi was on about is fantastic. almost matthew herbertesque but with a hefty dollop of sub :D
so i just filled my mp3 player with new shit (kode, that darkstar, mystikz, and the bugs 'killing sound'; some fucking heavy versions of 'killer' and others based on the riddim), went upstairs, turned on my sub, and caned the shit out of that weed.
bliss
i haven't listened to the new kode yet - spaceape is an acquired taste, but i like him
just went to score some weed with that darkstar disc on a loop. really is great, something different...
i'm liking the early hiphop feel on this one-sided 12" from loefah that's been knocking around a while according to wire mag
loefah - it's yours
like nearly all loefah it's leadheavy halftime trudgestep an ting. but in a good way.
oh man
shackleton - death is not final
my favourite in a long long time. caning it on my headphones atm. almost has a my life in the bush of ghosts feel to it. and the lyrics - it's discordianstep.
no, i'm not. all burial's stuff is credited to one william bevan on BMI. now that is also the name of a funeral director so it could be pulling the piss a bit. but i definitely don't believe he is kode9, aphex twin, or the ghost of john coltrane. he's just some bloke. kieran hebden knows him apparently.
fuck this new shackleton is fantastic
joining the dots between PiL and dubstep. i love the skull disco take on things, it's from a different angle. if i wrote for bitchfork i'd be carting out the post-dubstep wagon lol
i haven't heard it but i want a wax copy of that quarta 330 hyperdub release, it's fuckin excellent
also the new stuff kode9 has on his myspace at the moment is really good;

den of drumz is sweeeet
