"Vaporwave" is pretty much over, and it died around the time it got a name, its epitaph being its wikipedia article. It's like witch house and seapunk. But the styles that follow through and from it are certainly not over. Vaporwave is just a small part of a larger movement of netart that has been going on for awhile. I posted an Adam Harper article that I think pinpointed some of the stuff that flows from vaporwave that moves beyond its boundaries.

but hey, there's this too I guess

Most of the original work isn't really "vaporwave" though. More just chillwave, or witch-housey rap that I don't know what to call (Ferraro and the like), or future bass, or just beat stuff that has computery samples (Blank Banshee).
-
how can you guys tell apart the new original compositions from the cacophony of sampled stuff on this genre?
here's the secret: it's all the latter

i was just listening to that yesterday. the first track is such a killer, but it seems like straight up slowed down and that's it. this album is like half mix half plunder. some of it doesn't really typify vaporwave to me. great tho. I actually listened to this right when it came out. there was that other one, virtual information desk, which is vanished.
that is virtual information desk
Also, for me that release was always the most "vaporwave" release out there. The 80s nostagia whatever thing never appealed to me much.

as much as i can't stand most libertarians, they do have a better taste in art than casual conservatives

That's sweet, cruising is super fun. Skating gets really fun when you can just ride around and ollie confidently onto curbs and shit. Fucking pain in the ass getting there though.

We need to start an IDM skateboarding subculture.
-
I think it's coming back in style big time, but oddly enough it's not really punk anymore, it's more black culture and hip-hop oriented. In a couple years skating will be really big again.

I used to skate when I was 12 all the way to 19. I got pretty good. Was in a couple lower budget Canadian skate films. Then my health took a turn for the worse and I stopped. Now I just don't have nearly enough energy to bother. Makes me sad sometimes cause it was a fun as hell, I really enjoyed it. oh well.
You got links to those videos? It'd be cool to see them.
I like skating around people I know who haven't seen me skate because they assume I just sort of go on computers all day and do computer things. Even though the only tricks I can consistently land are like varials and kickflips and double kickflips, it's still impressive to them.
-
Anyone here skateboard? Doesn't seem like something an IDM community would be big into. I've been getting back into it lately. I'm getting pretty decent at tre flips - I can't land them consistently but it's not a godsend when I do land one. Probably like 1 out of 10.
(there was a thread from a few years back but is sorta sucked)

Day by day I gain more of a distaste for SSRIs.
