  1. No leaks for me. I still have to wait 'till the 26th. I should get a true fan medal or something. Nah, just kidding. I guess I’m too lazy for pirating plus I want to get it as fresh as I can once I’m finally holding it in my dirty hands. I couldn't resist the samples though. For what I’ve gathered from you sweethearts Syro seems indeed to be more of a sequel to Tuss than to Drukqs just like I suspected. It also fits to my view of different Aphex periods and if there’s any truth in the interviews this will be the end of this current era before he moves into some new direction. Have to wait and see how radical changes there will be. Blah blah blah, enjoy Syro. I know I will.

Yeah, I've read all that, too. I understand that Grant needed the money. But that is a coincidence that is also quite an opportunity, isn't it? That discogs listing created quite a buzz when it was found, shortly after some jokey post on FACT magazine's website. Wasn't that the same news outlet that had a history of similar jokey posts about other big-name Warp artists. Just a coincidence, I guess.

Was it Grant's copy? I thought it was some other Rich's friend. I tried to search different threads but couldn't find any info about this. At least it hasn't been mentioned in this thread since the last pages seem to try to find an answer to the question of how many members are from New Zealand and other important stuff. OK, me being funny = :trashbear:

It was Grant's copy - Aphex tells about it here: http://forum.watmm.com/topic/84679-syro-period-interviews/page-9?p=2218807&do=findComment&comment=2218807

Thanks once again. I thought I had read all those posts in the thread but still it had slipped under my radar. Maybe I didn't notice the spoiler or couldn't figure out how to click it. Oh silly me

Chosen Lords is a great comp! It captures quite well the whole Analord feeling in general. Yes, it lacks a few great tracks like VBS.Redlof.B, Lisbon acid, Homemade Polysynth or I’m Self Employed but IMO the key tracks can be found from the said release. I usually tend to pass digital releases but purchased the Analord series from Rephlex.com. I also own the Russian pirate 3CD version which I traded for some old Coil discs which were just laying around without much play. On a side note I can’t understand why Where’s Your Girlfriend gets so much praise. I find it somewhat mediocre track.

Anyway volumes 4 and 7 are my favorites.

I find it interesting that you call Homemade Polysynth and I'm Self Employed great but Where's My Girlfriend mediocre because I always kind of lumped those tracks together as being thematically similar along with klopjob and Crying in Your Face. They all have a very plaintive, reflective, personal feel to them with strong melodies. Kind of like robots singing away their troubles.

If I were to make a "Plaintive Lords" collection they would all be there.

LOL, I too think that all those three have the same vibe and could be lumped together (nicked your phrase here) but yet for some odd reason I don't find WYG as good as the two other ones. I don't hate it but it just doesn't click. Then again I didn't like I'm Self Employed when I first heard it but I love it now. I guess though that I won't ever fully get Where's your girlfriend since I've listened to it as many times as the other tracks and it still doesn't make any wonders.

Dude, listen to Where's Your Girlfriend (Another Version) followed up straight away by the original version.

B-b-b-but what if I still didn't love it and it turns out that I'm not a real fanboy. You know my whole life being over and that shit

Confirmation that "aisatsana" is the Barbican piano track:

    Wondering Sound track-by-track [Source]:

    12. “aisatsana [102]“

The album’s finale is the pretty solo piano piece James debuted at London’s Barbican in October 2012. (The event that became notable after James swung a grand piano from the roof of the theatre like a giant pendulum.) The song is a soothing piece reminiscent of the minimal compositions of Erik Satie; it rolls out softly over distant bird song. A point of trivia: “Aisatsana” is also the name of his wife spelled backwards.

With this Syro is exactly what I had wished but thought that would never happen. Thanks RDJ!

  7. Disclaimer: Random fanboy thoughts imminent

I’ve always thought that RDJ’s work could be divided into three periods: Early years which ended with ICBYD era (put CAT023 here), then some flirting with DSP starting from HAB/RDJ album ending with monumental Drukqs. Then the current era which started with Analords and its ‘’back to the basics’’-like approach. For me Tuss= Analords+Drukqs. It was kind of natural progression so IMO Syro is more a scion to Rushup egde than to Drukqs. Those live tracks somewhat support the feeling having the same vibes as the Tuss tracks. But those are just personal opinions so maybe others have a little bit different approach.

Drukqs has been my favorite album since the day I first hear it so Syro should be quite damn good to dethrone it. The again I thought that Ade could never top TROG but yet he delivered Persistence Of Vision so little did I know. Those live tracks alone assured me that Syro will be fucking ace! Can't wait to get it. Only 24 days left to wait here.

Have I missed something since allusions about another possible imminent album pop out here and there? On IDMForums some guy claimed that there wouldn’t be only one but two albums coming this year. Then again there have been so many informative ‘’very close to Warp’’ posters so I don’t know what to believe. Very stoked to get even this one.

I think that's just speculation based on just that person on reddit and the tor link (syro2eznzea2xbpi.onion). Some think it suggest there will be two more albums after Syro: Eznzea and Xbpi. I think Richard is very likely to release more on Warp in the coming years, but another release this year or early next year is wishful thinking imo.

Thanks! This was new to me. Also thinking that it might take a while to get a sequel to this. Hopefully not another 10+ years...
