yeah it’s a real good one. assume it’s an alias of the MPU101 guy who’s ilian releases get praise round these parts.
I assumed the same, and sonically that checks out. Really into it and will buy it.

Omg listening to Lisbon in an airport lounge is divine. What a show so far. Fresher and Cleaner! Hearing Close Up Over Caz had my 1996 self just melting into a puddle
Also gotta love audience banter: "wanna know what I did? I peed in a cup and then poured it on the ground and got it all over my leg."

Ok yes agreed that the current iteration of TBD has a high volume of output.

Spanners was an awesome album, but these guys are too prolific I am super jealous sigh....
That's more of a "were" right? 1993-1995 was an insanely high quality productive time for that trio.

It's just my opinion but the YouTube version is better than being there. The sound is perfect, you can see everything and there seems zero fucking casuals constantly trying to force their way in or force their way out. I was stood on the barrier of the fence of the guy who filmed this in a tent. I'm probably 10 metres to the left. he is not as he claims on YouTube (obviously) holding his arm aloft and steady for 1.5 hours flol. Don't feel to downbeat about not being there. This is an elevated position (maybe 7ft) on a tripod. Of course the best thing is to be there and also have this on YouTube.
Though it was hard to concentrate on the music in the crowd I've just hit the spot when universe evaporated and it was just me in the field and SV81 Brooklyn. That was special.
I agree with this take. The video on a big screen in the dark with good sound has a lot to offer, including not being constantly jostled and smoke in your face.

This was my favorite gig I’ve seen so far.
DFN was magic because it was my first and he played some gold, Brooklyn was cool but a bit ‘academic’ and the crowd was too packed to dance), this had a mix of classics, bangers, and a lot that sounded like new stuff or at least stuff that was clearly his own material. Felt like a more honest and clear glimpse inside than I’d gotten before.
It did help to be in the vip dance zone too, having room to spaz out to the tasty bits without violating 6 people’s personal space every 2 seconds was worth the price for us. (Went with fiancé, her first time, she loved it)
Only thing I was hoping for but didn’t get was a drukqs or classic track in the final 15 mins. Was very jealous of the Mt St Michel live experience-ers. Solid noise-chaos ending though.
Looking forward to all the recordings and possible releases of some of the new-ish stuff we may get eventually.
Ok I was dreaming of Mt. Saint Michel too! And would have gone to DFN (see cancellation story) and went to Brooklyn. And I was IN the VIP area but a friend joined late without vip so we had to move to the main area and people were annoying, constantly smoking, crowding, and squeezing back and forth.

Yeah internet was mostly non-existent.
So I'm back in my hotel after a long walk home. Haven't really digested the show but it was great as usual. Saw him in 2017 Field Day and also Brooklyn.
This one felt denser, with more interlayering of tracks. I heard lots of snippets and little wafting background sounds of familiar Aphex, but faint enough to be difficult to identify on the spot. Definitely some brand new to me gorgeousness. And several things that I believed were unreleased but previously played.
180db killed, and In A Room absolutely slayed.
There were some long challenging portions, but overall an excellent set.

Sucks to carry around a record all day all festival

Wow... Special merch. I don't think I'll grab it even if I have the chance, but I hope we get some new tunes. This time around 6 years ago was pretty incredible. Really looking forward to tomorrow. I think I'll be there all day.

Sad story - I had a custom shirt made with the custom mash-up logo of WATMM and Day For Night festival when Aphex played. I was so excited to go and see him for the first time. ...and then my flights got cancelled and I couldn't get there so I had to miss it. And I still have that shirt as a sad reminder.

Last time at Field Day I wore my avatar on a t-shirt to make it obvious, not sure what I'll wear this year but look out for a tall lanky blonde idiot with a heavy Dutch accent.
Oh damn, that's an obvious idea I didn't think of. I didn't bring my avatar shirt even though I have one. I'll be wearing my Analogical Force tshirt (I think).
I arrived in London today; will work with my UK folks in office rest of week. Staying in Spitalfields near Shoreditch.
I roughly plan on doing the whole day at Field Day (VIP tickets wut) since I want to see Hagop and he's on earlylearly. I'm bringing a close friend from work since I had an extra ticket. He has a mullet. But it's like a Polish hipster kind of mullet?

I'm still not 100% sure either way about the Steinvord EP. I think it's Richard, or Richard & Tom, but its not entirely out of the realms of possibilty that it's someone else.
The thing that muddies the waters is those other tracks that were about at the time that were also credited to Steinvord. Some of them don't sound like Richard, or Tom, or even Steinvord - wheras that Untitled 97 track is without a shadow of a doubt a Tuss-era Richard track. I smell a Rephlex disinformation campaign.
I have the same view. I would never argue that all of those tracks are Rich or Steinvord; most of them seem not to be. But gd that Untitled track is so killer.

How are the remasters hitting you all? I've just done some spot checking, and can hear subtle but positive/interesting differences. So I'm a thumbs up (also not an audiologist). It's a great excuse to really dig into these albums anyway. I'm hearing more difference in Bytes versus Spanners.

Thanks for reconnecting me with that one; it's a really lovely track. Mostly I had focused on just the plain "untitled" track which sounds like a direct outtake from Drukqs. Hard to imagine that being anyone else. I think this is absolutely a Drukqs-quality track and I'd love to get a high quality, mastered version.
