I've been really loving these onesix sets recently. especially the 2018 ones, they have such a nice trajectory building to the climax -> big chords track at the end. I love those lush arpeggios in the last few minutes, very reminiscent of SIGN

It's also been getting me in the mood to revisit some early synth music like Subotnick and Carlos. Feels like these sets are in that same vein, with the wildly creative exploration of textures

I too am completely inside the 2018 sets. Onesix It's as if Parmegiani's work went beyond the search for sound and atmosphere, meeting the melodic form

yeah, so: in 2011 i was being abused by members on this site and Joyrex made a public post basically saying he wasn't going to do anything. so i phoned his workplace using the shipping details on "WATMM Vol 1" which he used to send to people for donating money to the site (i donated twice) and the phonecall lasted about 15 seconds - Joyrex suddenly started responding to DMs again.

i joined watmm in 2006 and i've always received abuse from users for all kinds of reasons. after the situation that led to the phonecall, i was very strongly warned not to report users or complain about users - obviously it got way worse after that, and since i was told not to do anything i just stopped posting for about a year.

i have no idea what Joyrex's position is, because on the one hand he says he cares (he started a thread about the new user who asked to have their account closed when they saw the abuse against people with autism that goes on here) but on the other hand, he allows every decent thread in the subforums to go to shit - how many times have the exact users in this thread come into an Ae thread just to attack users - especially new users?

now that i'm in the thread it's all directed towards me - fair enough, i know you guys. but how many more new users are going to come in and just leave, just because this place is so toxic?

As I wrote, I've never had any problems since I've been in the forum. A few sharp jokes maybe, but I'm an adult, and the term "abuse" is designated for another category of things. The paradox lies in the fact that the only violent aggression, completely gratuitous, dripping shit and self-indulgence was yours, and for an absolutely conciliatory post. But already answering this, I feel I am fueling a fire that will only burn my balls: I already have so many daily burns to my balls, I don't see why I should come to a music forum to make new ones, so, as far as I'm concerned, the the question of the bathtubs shitter is closed. I'm not having a scat party until next week.

    u ok hun?

Dragon knows that between Friday and Saturday, I usually set up coprophile parties. Sadly he refuses to bathe in my tub with commendable obstinacy

act like a cunt as much as you want but do not misquote me. there is no hidden irony to what i said - this user, and many others treat new users like shit and WATMM has been slowly sinking into shit for years because this happens every time someone new comes in.

i was being sincere, don't fucking drag me into your shit festival.

Well, since I joined this is the first time I've been covered in shit lol

A wee bit harsh yeah, that's why I said "bit harsh",  I cant say my responce was an attack... but thanks for letting me know I saved the day, I guess that's why they call me decent demo.
For real though I'm not taking it personally, I just like both album covers, if I don't like an album cover I'll probably give a more detailed responce than just "ewww".

Saying "so the stories are true" wasn't in responce to that anyway, it was in responce to "he gets worked up about new members", I mean, that's the kind of stupid shit I've heard goes down on here.

Demo, if I may say, generally nothing here is directed ad personam or intended to be hostile (i mean, after all it is a forum that deals with a rather neutral thing, like music), more than anything else you will find non-formal communication , and when it is harsh, it is to be understood below in the harmless spectrum of irony, including "he gets worked up about new members". If we lower our defenses and welcome this way, everything is framed in a light way and without reason for resentment. This my own intervention will get me ridiculed, but that's okay  :nelson:

    Thanks so much for translating.

Interesting to hear the boys talking about drugs and their effects on musical direction.

Over the years they have made some mention of psychoactive substances, but it seems to me that this is the first time they have been so specific. Here in the forum the topic has never been addressed, at least since I frequented it, but it is an aspect close enough to the perception of music, that it might deserve a discussion, especially now that they have introduced the thing. In recent years I have significantly reduced the use of psychoactives for reasons of mere contingency, but it is true that it was a very significant chapter in my life, and that it was an influential component of my approach to music. For example, I am surprised by their appreciation for speed, which is an inappropriate substance for contemplation and concentration - what more than their music requires these two requirements? - and, above all, it is little associated with other substances, rather tending to overwhelm them, reducing their effect. I agree with what they write about MDMA, but it is true that, if combined with something else - like ketamine - it amplifies its effects in a surprising way.

it's true, untilted and oversteps represent the two opposite poles, yet they are the two albums apparently more dense with hidden ideas. Fermium, unlike the other Unt tracks, is perhaps a bit treacherous: he prepares this slow climb, moreover with fairly classic solutions, and then, where it could start playing hard, it simply ends. After the traveling in the absurd that augmatic is, the only piece that can stand up to it is sublimit. Oversteps ... probably the album I've listened to the most. Even now I can discover something new in the skein of fugues, and although each piece opens up a different scenario, the coherence and intensity is constant as I have never perceived in other albums. Last week I listened to Yim0 isolated from the rest, which has never happened before because it seemed more like an intermission before the finale (yuop), and I've never put in other playlists;  yet, despite having listened to it hundreds of times, only now i realized the elegance and the multiplicity of melodies that make up the carpet, and how there are sudden bursts that change the mood to the flow, raising the bar of unpredictability as I never suspected. As always, the least direct and flashy things are those that hide the most

...the fact is that Ylm0 is on MOT not Overs... welcome senility!

you guys scared Sean away with your fanboism. lol

considering the reaction times for detected the interview posted, I'm the one who's scared: wtf !, the big brother ... I felt comfortable shooting bullshit here and there, but be careful: it's all put on the record  ?️

I definitely believe that there's some intentional symmetry between them. Especially with the similarities in cover art - they all feature circular designs and Oversteps and MoT have green/orange colors on their inner sleeves.

I also believe that the intentionality of the bridge between the two is made evident by the graphics and format, in fact we are inclined to talk about the - huge - differences they have, which for the other albums is not necessary because it's radically explicit

  10. it could be that Ovesteps has opened the tradition of marking the beginning of each new decade with a transcendent act ... we have to wait ten years to verify it ... the substantial difference between Ovesteps and Sign, apart from the general atmosphere (Overs : glacial , Sign : warm), it seems to me that it is in the approach: the first was maximalist (there was talk of a return to the origins but I found the opposite: ok, Ovesteps is not aggressive but more things happen there than in gantz graf... it's an endless movement) while Sign works in subtraction.

Strange the disappointment for know (1), that rough crepitating solo that dominates the "harpsichord", screamed against the creation, seems to me to be autechre to the maximum degree

  12. in spite of any skepticism, we have the photos of all the pages ... but the curvature of the pages and the reflections of light have eaten away pieces of text ... more than an interview it has the thickness of an essay. For convenience I uploaded the pages here, but you can also find them in the thread on fb

First one I bought was Draft 7:30, which was my first Autechre, so perhaps in the never-to-be-underestimated "You attach to what you hear first" way, I like Draft (loved it right away), Untitled (loved it right away), Quaristice (was super confused... listened to Versions as the 'real' album at first. There was too much material, to sort out. Now overall, love it, but it took a long time to get over all that confusion). And Exai, which feels like an extension to me with a detour for Oversteps on the way. In other words, the Draft->Exai run feels like the most complex composed run for me, and I'll listen to those albums straight through, and that's kind of their aesthetic I like best. Obviously I like things all over the place. With the explosion of your AE_lives etc., I no longer have such a detailed relationship to the material. I know 'I like that track at the start of NTS 1'. I can't remember the names or places of things as well, there's too much. I was amused Autechre joked about classical track names being unhelpful. Theirs are bloody unhelpful!

But yeah - Draft->Exai for me.

    -Wade

draft->exai was the era of micro details to be identified and related in matryoshkas of possibility, which is the cornerstone of "oh! i get it!" after a year of ear work... AE_LIVE is the eruption of Krakatoa, stop running and surrender to the lava river that is overwhelming you. I conceive Elseq and NTS as a rationalization, which presents a series of scenarios in which to be in contemplation, although this is clearly a simplification: there are many cases in which the evolving "narrative" plays a dominant role, such as 13ctrl or latentcall

I could do the translating (if I saw a transcript, of course).

good! thanks joseph! at this point it would be enough to have the scan of the magazine .. I will ask the guy if he can post at least that ...

  15. ... I must have had an excess of optimism in writing the post ... apparently the guy from fb initially talked about a translation, then retracted with a transcript (we would have found ourselves in the hands of the translator's algorithm, which would have done to the words of Ae what the Ae do with sound, but it would have already been something), and then leave no trace ... let's hope something happens, even if after all this time the shadow of defeat begins to be seriously dark...
