  1. am i the only one here who thinks draft is a predictable (if not weak) album ? after confield & its abstract/esoteric charms, i found draft pretty complicated & a bit boring. its not a bad record, it has its great moments, but when it came out, i really felt the gescom iss isa was better. to my ears, draft is nice but Untilted (or confield) seems more inspired/risky.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc2q_46m6tQ & he did not even received the vinyl yet !!!
  3. same for i minus the 30 sec samples of Known(1) via normanrecords. (i would not complain if bleep would upload the 24bitWAV files BEFORE march 22nd.)
  4. Thus, WHAT THE FUCK, WARP/BLEEP? well, maybe its is due to legal reasons. i wonder how did other online distributors (itunes/boomkat etc) react when quaristice (flac) was sold at bleep before every one else.
  5. thanks for the link. the first track reminds me of the sakamoto/willits collab.
  6. this is something i noticed recently, so much idm these days is percussion based, and even when highly melodic there is still some type of drum work present. hence why most of my new electronic stuff is gonna be largely beatless (and not because of oversteps). perhaps its related to my taste but there seems to be a trend in electronic/experimental music for drone or minimal music. some of my favorite recent electronic records were beatless : xerrox2, fennesz, sunno))),rehberg, ambarchi, bj nilsen. (alva noto is probably not a good exemple as some of his records are full of beats.)
  7. this thread gets interesting. from my point of view it cannot be simplier : wait for the wav/lps. period. but actually its not the album being judged by the critiques but the critiques being judged by the album : fake or real ? it is possible to fool a true autechre fan ? this can only happen with electronic/instrumental music.
  8. no. but if bleep releases it early, i will def get that before my preorder gets here you're right : i forgot the WAV given with the records via bleep.
  9. am i the only one here who will wait & discover the album via 2xLP ?
  10. i dont think so. maybe ae will release remixes/version of this new album later this year. honestly since cichly suite autechre records have shit loads of beats. nothing wrong with that but as their (recent) quiet tracks were very good, i cant wait to hear the new one. btw : perlence subrange 6 36, is a perfect track to get lost into. i'm glad it has no rythmic changes or breaks. just subtle variations, just like thursday afternoon. i'm sure they could have released a max/msp patch for subrange 6 36 : the basic track + changing variations here & then.
  11. Thank you for an intelligent response :) That probably explains it, as that is the circles I usually move in (being a musician myself) and the mastering rooms+mastering engineers I've gotten to hang out with are dedicated to that kind of music.. being in Montreal I'm in the middle of the acousmatic scene, folks like francis dhomont and robert normandeau, who are all about setting up big multichannel systems in spaces and using a great deal of dynamic range. Anyway, hence when opting for the 24-bit I'm hoping the new album takes advantage of the increased dynamic range. And of course you're totally right, for most compressed music the extra bits would make little discernible difference if any. OK back to impatiently waiting for the new album :) if you met Robert Normandeau in montreal, please say hello from me : he's a true genius. his latest records are fantastic. i've heard a new one might be on the way on Empreintes digitales. i should get a 5.1 system for the Puzzle DVD, only played it via stereo.
  12. also, copy paste from Raster Noton : "as SND’s atavism album proofed very successful in 2009 we decided to offer a 96 khz 24 bit version of the album on sd card. coming very soon...."
  13. yeah i was wondering the same. honestly i dont know. also, what is the best : listening to a CD via audiophile set up (like there are cd players sold at the price of an aircraft carrier) or via 24bit wav on computer ? i guess it must depends on the computer soundcard.
  14. i didnt know you were into vangelis ! well, i was kinda obsessed with Invisible connections because it was Vangelis recording for DG and was really never repressed. i even wanted to get that japanese edition with the michael kenna photograph. Very strong album, my favorite along Blade Runner & Beaubourg. but Vangelis is truly hit & miss. probably the most versatile musician in electronic music. Soil Festivities is good also even if really new age but if you like Tron or Digital Moonscape..
  15. Invisible connections, Atom Blaster & Thermo vision (the same track, cut in 2 parts). one of my favorite Vangelis : got it on cd & lp... thinks blade runner but way more minimal & abstract. http://www.amazon.com/Invisible-Connections-Vangelis/dp/B00000E30I
  16. this track is stellar. +1 to internet its one of my favorite quaristice/quadrange moment, but before being a great track, i think its a kind of tribute to vangelis. check Invisible connections the album (track 2 & 3). i'm getting confused with all those remixes/versions : the "vangelis" track is rather perlence suns...
  17. well, for me, the (tiny) black mark in Ae's discography is the voice on that japanese (hip pop) remix... the intrumental track is great tho.
  18. you right its not boring (mind you i only know a few english words) its rather "silly" that the oversteps threads are turning into oversteps fakes threads.
  19. regarding the thread evolution : its boring that loads of people paid a lot for a HQ album (expensive WAV + LP via bleep) while hunting the net for poor qualities (sound & content) fakes.
  20. i would have a dumb question for autechre : being a bit deaf after years of techno/rave/shows, i'm wondering if they've got any hearing problems ? seriously, i was wondering how the techno kids of yesterday might turned into middle aged ravers(prodigy, carl craig) without being ridiculous.
  21. those days, i've been listening to my favorite autechre records (LP5, EP7, Confield). i'm wondering if they could produce more masterpieces in the future. i think any single release had been excellent/very good (it's Autechre not your average electronic artist) but i still consider that a record like LP5 remains better than the latest ones.
  22. I bought the special edition quaristice, the fuckers spilled hot glue all over the second CD, last time I order anything like that. bought it on ebay or via bleep ? that's weird, mine arrived clean & safe.
  23. well, i bought it even if i still think it's expensive for a single album (& the analord binder was incredibly expensive!). that said, i think the nice physical + HQ digital is a nice option.
  24. i still dont know if i should get this vinyl edition ? if its the same tracklisting, i'll stick to the cd. i always thought Autechre sound better on cd.
  25. ah that's great. but is it me or the vinyl is expensive (40 euros including shipping) ? the artwork reminds me of monoliths & dimensions or the AFX HAB cd. nice that the DR are back.
