Out of curiosity, anyone playing Borderlands 3? Because I hear it's plagued with technical issues right now. The latest apparently is game saves being deleted on PC because of the Epic Games Store's janky cloud save system.

So yeah. That's why Epic exclusivity is a bad move, Randy. One of several reasons.

i am, on ps4 though. having a great time with no issues at all. shitty reviews on ps4 metacritic seemed, at least a couple of days ago, completely due to couch coop player issues that made tons of people rate it 0.

  2. velocity:design:comfort got me into IDM and it's still one of my absolute favourite albums. was surprised to find him mentioned so seldom when searching and wanted to give him some well-deserved praise. i mean, how can you not absolutely love this? every album is amazing. share your sweet trip favourites

  3. ^ been thinking of re-reading blood meridian as i read it more as a recommendation than of my own will. good to hear it holds up. was kinda compulsive about reading at that time (and still am, i suppose) and didn't really let myself enjoy it

broke my no-long-books spree and picked up the second volume of the man without qualities AND infinite jest at the same time. don't know if i am to laugh or cry

  4. Read both Solaris and Return From the Stars by Lem since fall, and both were a great experience. Especially the former.

If you've watched Solaris the movie (the Tarkovsky version), the book is more about Kris' self than the planet and its apparitions in comparison with the movie. I.e. more interesting, imo. Return From the Stars is mostly interesting as a concept, where an astronaut returns, from a several decades long trip through space, to find Earth and its inhabitants radically different... Cliffhangers abound.

Huge fan. Massive gamechanger for me. Sensate Focus, SND, all the Mark Fell solo stuff, it's all great.

I'm still trying to start a massive social media riot to out Boiler Room as a cowardice exploitative (they don't pay artists) censorship group because they denied the existence of a liveshow Mark Fell did with Russell Haswell, NHK'Koyxen and someone else (can't recall atm). I've contacted them a bunch of times through different channels and the only thing they ever replied to me about it was "Mark didn't do a set that night".

Needless to say, I (and some other chatmmers) saw the entire gig live on the stream as it happened. Mark Fell was leaning against a wall looking extremely bored like always, chewing gum and making bubbles with it while playing the most stupid corny 80's dance tracks pre-mixed in something like Audacity. One track I recall was just in the left channel, the next one in the right channel, etc. Obvious statement against current DJ culture / Boiler Room world. It was the most punk thing I've seen in ages.

I decided to email Mark Fell about it some years ago and this was his reply:

    hi
I definitely did "DJ" that evening. I think they just got quite upset because it didn't fit their agenda. I'm not sure if the footage still exists but I don't have a copy
thanks for your email and reminding me of this ?
    mark

oh man i really want to see this.

thanks for the sentielle and sprinkles collab recs. great stuff

in other news i can't really figure out WHEN to play albums like multistability and UL8. they're in this weird purgatory between calm and stress that i haven't found a place for. the SND releases are generally clearer to me.

^ yeah AS's whole discog is great.  He's had a few rather distinct phases but somehow you can feel his fingerprint throughout.

Im catching up on a pair of Patricia EPs that somehow slipped under my radar.. and digging them

patricia is one of those acts i'm betting will stay relevant after the lo-fi trend subsides. they're a notch or two above the pack

been revisiting some old playlists and was reminded of peter benisch

johanna knutson's new album is really cozy

  7. the stockholm city council has gone on a venue-closing spree lately. ostensively* due to complaints about the sound levels and such. three, out of the few remaining, of our most precious institutions for moderately famous bands/non-pop/EDM-stars are to be closed down in 2019 (afaik), and now one of them is launching their summer schedule with having DG play outside, on their terrace. i'm thinking it's just to spite the whiny tenants. it's pretty funny.

*this is probably the case, but i can't shake the feeling it's also got to do with economic interests
