Can you grab a free download of the Illegal Rave Tapes Magazeen here:

    https://www.tailored-communication.com/releases/illegal-rave-tapes-selektion-1999-2012

Theres also more artwork to come including a full newspaper of illegal rave lore.

I'd like to grab the free download, but it seems like you have to have set up an account with Tailored Communication to do so. Am I missing something? Thanx.

  2. It's funny to see this starting to make the rounds now. Most of this (minus the first four tracks) was apparently on a Bandcamp page with no purchase price. This was spotted and pointed out to the Avalanches community who were surprised and really excited. I guess there was some panic because it got pulled offline for a few days before finally being released, and with two bonus tracks if you purchase it. Now I've seen it on another site where someone is trying to insist the Avalanches are on it, which is not the case, it's just Gordy circa 2000 and the mid-2000s. Still, it's very good and totally worth your attention.

If you like the classic Avalanches sound, a la Since I Left You and the El Producto EP, this will be right up your alley.

thanks to the 26 Mixes for Cash 128 kbps disaster, Warp learned never to try that again

I don't know if it was that big a deal in the long run. That comp is mostly ignored now anyway since it's not available digitally or, to the best of my knowledge, physically. They were in a crunch anyway. I compiled all the BoC mixes from lossless sources years ago for myself, though it'd be nicer to have everything from master tapes/dats/files/whatever.

I wish it was more than just vamping but it's very detailed and I like it more now than when I first heard it

It certainly doesn't go much of anywhere. Still like it though.

Kind of amazed Warp hasn't tried to make an officially licensed remix comp for them. They've got enough stuff for an album length release.

Ni-Ten-Ichi-Ryu snuck into the UK top 40 at a time when I used to tape anything that sounded remotely interesting from it. Remember playing it on repeat for months afterwards before finally tracking down the single. My intro to dnb and, sadly, it's never really been topped. Almost everything else I've heard since has sounded so simplistic. Other than the IDM lads, I suppose.

It's such a unique track. Nothing else really sounds like it outside of Photek's work. As much as I love MO, it always bothered me that this wasn't on it, especially since The Fifth Column is. Would've been lovely to see it as a bonus track for the vinyl reissue or as a separate 12" reissue. Seriously, nothing else like it, which is saying something because there really isn't anything else like MO.

Quite note, I just noticed my semi-ancient rip of MO I have on my phone (I copy most of my music to my phone rather than use streaming services. Yes, I'm nuts.) has Ni-Ten-Ichi-Ryu at the end. Don't know if that was from the Japanese CD or if I just added it.

  6. I ordered a copy. Who knows when it'll arrive as I'm in the US. It'd be nice to get a digital version too, but I guess that's not happening. Woulda considered buying the Nondi_ vinyl for her tape as well if I hadn't already bought the vinyl months ago. (sigh)

Have you tried to contact Music_Maestro on discogs?

Great records, ballacid posted a few of the tracks on his YouTube page for those looking for rips, sorry that's best I can recommend

I gave up after a few more attempts to reach out to them and filed a claim with PayPal. They refunded my purchase, which most likely means the seller never responded to them either. Totally nuts.

  8. I was working at one of the radio stations at the college I was attending when this came out. I didn't know as much about electronic music as I wanted to yet, so the soundtrack/compilation was a nice introduction to some different styles. Complimented the game fantastically well! Still cherish those early Photek records too. And if you couldn't stand Keith from The Prodigy's voice, you got the instrumental of Firestarter!

Totally worth picking up if you see it in the budget bin. The later game with the exclusive AFX and LFO tracks was quite nice too!

It’s been ten years since the last album right? Crazy

Yes, far too long. No clue what they're doing, but I hope they're doing well. But I hope they don't forget about us. There are plenty of other artists and groups they've inspired, some of which are excellent while some are simply imitating them, but nothing beats the real thing.

$5 for 17 minutes of analog farts

I bought this yesterday and woke up to a refund this morning. Looks like it was scrubbed from the net. Was anyone able to grab it before it was removed?

  11. I thought FE were shutting down. I guess I was wrong, but I'm still waiting on the record I ordered from them almost half a year ago. Feels like they're ghosting me on email too, so I'm leery of doing business with them until they finish what is already standing. Something like this should be coming out on digital too anyways, because as chronical said, I don't want to pay aftermarket prices for something I'm more likely to listen to on a digital platform, even if it's my own rip. This also brings up real issues regarding elitism and where money is being made for the artist(s), but I suppose that's a whole other discussion.
