Our/my wish of a Rephlex subforum is Grant'ed so let's start off with this bit of info for the lurkers that would otherwise be overlooked by many, I think. Already posted it in the AP Musik thread but this won't hurt I guess. Anyway, for logic behind Rephlex' labelless albums, it's all in the barcode: 6669080 = rx barcode prefix 202 = cat number 2 = bpi format code (cd=2, 12"=6 etc) 1 = numerical check digit So the Rephlex cat. nr's are: 239: apmusik colundi sequence (?) 236-238: ? 235: bochum welt good programs 235 : d'arcangelo, audiovisual design 234: apmusik mu3 227-233: ? 226: edm b2 225: edm a2 223-224: ? 222: photodementia fig. 04 CD/LP 221: ultrade…

Bogdan has a limited tape release coming out (https://mondoj.bandcamp.com/album/muzyka-dla-imigrant-w), in the short message he sent out on Bandcamp he mentions that "Warp has given the go ahead" for it. I know he released Rave Til You Cry on Warp imprint Disciples, but this announcement suggests (to me) some sort of exclusive contract a la autechre. Anyone else shed any light on this or care to speculate?

I've been thinking about starting this thread for ages now. Rephlex is, at least in the grand scheme of things, quite a leftfield electronic music label. I remember especially becoming obsessed after listening to the Rephlexions compilation. It's mysterious and reclusive attributes obviously go hand-in-hand with the ways of it's artists. That said, I've quenched many of my questions and overall curiosity over the years regarding the stories and tidbits behind the "main" artists of the label: AFX, Vibert, Cylob, μ-Ziq, DMX Krew, Ceephax, Global Goon, Wisp, Bogdan Raczynski, Aleksi Perälä, etc. Still, there's quite a few releases and signings that still puzzle me: Wh…

Rephlex X-Asp - Terra Ferma

i want to share a record i discovered today, called Terra Ferma, by X-Asp and released on Rephlex. it's kind of unknown and hard to find, though there are some vinyl to be sold on discogs, but i instantly loved it. i get to discover new artists pretty much everyday, but this one turned out to be special, because it has a combination of charming spacey pads and melodies with often complex, raw drum programming. as simple as that. this made me feel like when i first listened to steve pictkon's stasis or black dog's bytes (though not establishing a comparison here). it's very hard to find samples and youtube has nothing, but you can listen two of the tracks here: T…

Now, I was surprised not to find a thread for this since it has been around for a while, a full version is available in the ballacid channel. However I know that a "remastered" version with fixed audio and better sync amongst other things was available on the channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCToSWHTqAl7tNezcRGYc2ng at the address youtu.be/gfc_xp113Oo until it was privated sometime during the last year. I guess this thread is for discussing the vid but also for letting people know if the remastered version ever becomes available again.. edit:

Not sure if this has been posted here but I just remembered that his old site used to have notes on all his albums on how they were produced, the types of gear used, etc. Includes UI records and the mix. I was able to pull it from the IA as his site went defunct in 2007. Good read. Machine Codes. Record Label Established 1990. The first project was recorded in the summer of 1990. In 1991 the The Mighty Dred EP was eventually released. The Acid House Track "Escape from Reality" was what initially attracted the interest of R&S Records in Belgium. . (At the time the leading label for Techno Sounding Music). It was also championed by Adam X & Frankie B…

In the Aphex twin download, theres a 1997 show I passed on ages ago. .. eh, i think it was me who had it from years ago! I'm enjoying it again but it should be pointed out that its probably mostly Cylob (at his very best in my opinion) with a few tracks by Aphex twin at the start only. May it was a collaboration? Don't think so to be honest. Lots of great ulyssesses cartoon samples thrown in! this was an Australian Rephlex showcase i think.

"A selection of Electronic Music.... for Dance and Thought" Well this was the "first" Rephlex CD, released in 1992, in cooperation with the ART label that was run by Kirk DeGiorgio (still is I think) An excellent start for Rephlex, which I think had only released Bradley's Beat before this. Hence why it was "shared" with ART. This is an exemplary compilation of the "British Techno Sound" that Rephlex would showcase for the first third of it's life. The sound we all associate with IDM. Aphex, B12, Black Dog/Plaid show up big here. All good tracks, although the Red Cell track is really excellent. B12 are so so underrated imo. The Aphex tracks are more humorous and…
