  1. Good article about the Florida hearing on masks:

    Quote

In the 2006 movie, Idiocracy, Mike Judge imagined “a dystopian world where commercialism has run rampant, mankind has embraced anti-intellectualism, and society is devoid of such traits as intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, justice, and human rights.”

Or maybe Judge was just predicting what would happen to Florida if a global pandemic ever hit.

On Wednesday, Palm Beach County held a public hearing. Its purpose: with the number of coronavirus cases spiking in Florida, the county commission wanted to hold a vote on mandating the use of masks in public (as Broward and Miami-Dade counties have). The vote came after a two-hour public hearing, during which angry opponents held up Trump signs, threatened the county board with citizens’ arrests, invoked the wrath of God, and held a festival of crazy.

  2. Never heard the poopy pants I just remember seeing a video where she was going around asking people what they thought about having tampons in mens' bathrooms. Nobody cared and I think she was too dense to see that she was just getting trolled.

  3. And when you finish watching 13th, be sure to do counterfactual research by using Google and searching for terms like "13th netflix debunked". I'm not saying throw everything out, just make sure you aren't intellectually lazy by accepting everything in a documentary at face value.

  4. No better than the hairdresser dude who refused to wear a mask on American Airlines flights and got booted. He basically just did it for publicity and I think the ex-employee of Taco Bell was just doing the same thing.

  5. I don't even know what this is supposed to mean.

Sometimes I feel like SJWs just make this stuff up as they go just to try to start "something."

Of course with a hashtag like #causeascene I guess this is the attention they want and I'm just being played by even mentioning it here.

  6. Tennessee legislature keeps voting to keep the bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest in the Tennessee State Capitol too:

I would hate to be the Governor of Tennessee right now:

    Quote

In a separate measure, Gov. Bill Lee is asking state senators to relieve him of having to recognize a special day in Forrest's honor every July. House members, including the Naming Committee, have endorsed it.

By law he or any Tennessee governor currently in office is required to sign a proclamation every year recognizing Forrest.

Maybe he'll do the right thing and practice some civil disobedience if the state senators won't let him off the hook.

Tennessee: Birthplace of the KKK. Some things never change.

With the amount of unjustified killing of innocent people by the police in the United States, does that matter? Or do you want to play "gotcha" all day and spot hyperbole in inappropriate places?

Yeah it matters what you believe to be the ground truth. If you're reasoning about this with the ground truth that police are just out of control and always turn to the most violent force they can, I would say yeah, that is a hyperbolic position and there is no data to support that ground truth.
