    Got a friend who now lives in Israel who told me that he went out for a walk yesterday afternoon and received a call from the police telling him to self isolate. They came to his flat the morning after to check whether he was in but he hasn't got the slightest clue how they were able to do that since he has a UK number right now. Can the police even see location services on phones?

    Quick edit: It was 1 or 2 days after he came back to Israel from the UK so maybe something got flagged up and they called him to tell him to stay inside and the fact that he was on a walk was a coincidence?

    Israel has unit 8200 and has one of the most advanced signals intelligence capabilities on the planet. A cell phone is basically a radio beacon with a GPS that people willingly carry around on their person at all times. Child's play to track.

    Don't want to go full tinfoil hat on you, but there's an old article (february 23/ 2017) of a trusted french paper (le point)  about a P4 lab opening in Wuhan (it was a collaboration with France, there's a p4 lab in Lyon) here's the link for french readers https://www.lepoint.fr/monde/epidemies-nouvelle-etape-pour-le-premier-laboratoire-p4-chinois-23-02-2017-2106936_24.php

    The P4 lab in Wuhan conspiracy theory seems to have started on a finance bro forum called ZeroHedge. Not going to both posting links to it but you can search for zerohedge coronavirus conspiracy theory to see where all that came from.

    For those of us in America, I'd recommend using your free time and relieve some stress by calling your Congressmen and Senators (especially), or tweet @ them, as long as you don't physically threaten them or even Trump, make our concerns known that Mitch McConnell needs to pass this emergency spending bill NOW.

    @senatemajldr (Mitch Bitch)

    @realdonaldtrump (Head Bitch)

    What is the TLDR on this bill? I haven't been able to catch up on news this morning

    The guy lists himself as an independent analyst, who just happens to be sponsored by refinitiv (massive financial data firm).
    People have been over leveraged since forever,  but y’all should definitely try and time the market. Lol

     Not for me! Most people lose their hat trading.

  5. For finance/economics nerds, Real Vision Finance has some solid videos on the current macro picture. Here's one of the latest.

    TLDW: People needed yield after the last global financial crisis and started using leverage. All of that is unwinding now.

    Good luck! I tried my luck on GUSH last week thinking oil would get a dead cat bounce. It didn't. Was just toying around with 100 shares, got out after losing 50%.

    Feel REALLY sorry for anyone who was playing around with gold miner ETFs. JNUG took a 90% haircut last week.

    All I want is comparison of how many people died last year on the same day overall/ with flu + and same for this year/day with extra  column for corona. For each country..Just sick of people shitting themselves all around the internet without any clue. Just so much hype, fuck this shit.

    The flu is something we have operationalized over the years and we come to expect it. Some years are worse than others. There are vaccines for it every year. Some are more effective than others. Compliance with vaccines depends on the population but in general we have the flu in check.

    The novel coronavirus of 2019 is something new. There is no natural immunity and there is no vaccine. It is now pandemic. When it breaks out, it breaks out in an exponential fashion. It tends to double every 6 days. 2 cases becomes 1024 in 60 days, 32768 cases in 90 days, and 1048576 cases in 120 days.

    It seems that about 10% of the COVID-19 cases need hospitalization. If that number grows exponentially you soon outstrip the hospital system capacity.

    You'd need to model the specific data to your country, city, region, population, health system, etc. to know what risk to model.

    I don't see it as hype.
