am i the only one thinking how all these local conflicts will drag on and on (tying up the western forces and resources), then a few more will spawn (since this shit seems to be trending), then china will invade taiwan and the next thing you know there's gonna be a third wolrd war

Yup, dunno if that's how it's gonna play out but it certainly feels like the long period of relative peace is coming to an end.

there's a story showing up today.. newsweek etc.. that when trump shared secret docs with russia it was about isreal and that possibly russia shared that info w/iran. or so the story suggests.

    edit: here's the story.

    https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-israel-intel-russia-hamas-attack-1833094

    Russia Russia Russia...

I will not buy any "Russia did it" story for the next century.

Anyway the article I linked argues the case that's it's not in Russia's (or China's ) interest to do this since they're no fans of Islamists either.

I'm thinking of jumping back into some gaming. I was interested in something casual to pick up here and there for hour or two or something and these usual suspect ps5 games feel like to big of a time investment ,So i was looking at a switch. These mario rpg / wonder / zelda games look really fun but since my only enjoyment out of games i have really gotten in the past has been with highly competitive skill based games league of legends  etc. So this is making me wonder if these nintendo games have somewhat of a edge or are you just blazing through them ? What does your guys switch usage look like and what kind of gamer are you ? And do these nintendo games hold up against those ps5 type of games horizon zero dawn last  of us etc for you guys?

I'd recommend a PC based on what you describe. Maybe a steamdeck?

I recommend the switch only if you can't go without Nintendo's IP games or you're fine with playing mostly casual games and you're concerned about price.

  4. The witness kicking my ass, I think I'll come back to it later.

Hmm... elder ring on sale, should I pull the trigger?

Never got too far into dark souls 3, and I didn't finish sekiro.

I think I'll wait for the next sale.

Thinking of getting and paying Alan Wake since I really liked the control cross over mission before Alan Wake 2 comes out.

I see they have making re-versions of old games I loved to play like Crash Bandicoot, Tony Hawk Pro Skater and soon all the Tomb Raider games will come out in new shape.

However.. I don't have any console now!
What console should I buy? I would love to play the New Metroid Dread also..

Should I buy the Nintendo Switch and possible to go handhold which I like alot?
Or just a Playstation 4 and get maybe more and better games like GTA and stuff?

Switch is fine, has great games and stuff, mine's gathering dust tho cus I got a powerful-ish PC where I can play the shiny stuff.

I'd say think about what you'll do long term, if you can't do without those bigger scale games or if you'll be happy enough with what Nintendo has to offer (which is plenty tbh)

    -----------------------------------

Finished paradise killer. It's okay, not too hard but kinda tedious gameplay, not my thing but I got through it just fine.

Now I see the witness is on sale so I'm gonna get that.

I have been trying the "MyHouse.wad" Doom 2 mod this afternoon and what a ride, it was really mind-bending.

I don't want to spoil too much, there are plenty of videos online that really go in-depth on the game, its mechanisms etc. but if you enjoy Doom 2 or want an obscure, slightly horrific experience full of lore and set in some kind of alternate 90's reality, definitely give it a go!

I've seen the videos, did you get all the endings?

Please explain what What We Do In The Shadows is all about watmm. I've seen this lurking on my radar for ages.

A comedy fake docu series about a small  group of vampires that live together.

Same as the movie but in a series format and different cast.

  8. Tried Prey for a bit although it has a cool opening I was soon overwhelmed with a neverending checklist of stuff to do. Which is a big contrast with the game design I had recently experienced in outer wilds. Its also awkward to play on controller.

So I returned to outer wilds and played the echoes of the eye DLC. Pretty goddamn amazing as well, imma start a religion about this game.

I'll give prey another chance some other  day.

    Progress report:

    Finally figured out how to

      Reveal hidden contents

    Get in the quantum moon

I was trying such a convoluted way, almost facepalmed when I finally figured out how to do it. So easy.

Also had a lightbulb moment in the morning about how

      Reveal hidden contents

to get inside the Ash twin project

Which I can't wait to try after work.

Pretty sure that'll make it so I have everything I need, I think I know what I'll find there and what to do with it. But we'll see!

Fantastic experience one of those you wish you could forget and do for the first time again.

Status update (I'm sure y'all super interested in knowing):

Game completed. This one goes in the list of best of all time gaming experiences.

I'm at that stage I think, I spoiled myself a couple of solutions but both turned out to be things I had already tried that didn't work for some reason. I keep thinking of more convoluted things to try now for the lack of more obvious things. Still enjoying it tho.

I beat this game about a month ago. I loved all the exploration threads but I did get a bit stuck near the end when it felt like i'd mostly explored everything. It helps to go back and read stuff and give yourself a goal. Also helpful to have some non-spoiler hints near the end
