  1. Kieran has been signed to OWSLA and from what i've seen lately, i predict he will be diluting himself for the american edm audience. He's taking cues from Burial's percussion and the deep house trend a few years ago and making himself into something "new" for the domestic zeitgeist. I believe in a year he will be doing b2b with skrillex on main stages across the country. Mixed feelings there

Marginally excited for new album though

pretty much any company is going to put R&D into a product, but the intent and passion will differentiate the ultimate outcome. Uli doing threads on Gearslutz aren’t about his passion for an instrument, it’s just market research so ultimately what he sells is as cheap as possible while ticking the boxes necessary.

I'll have to disagree then because there are plenty of subpar legacy knockoffs that are less than half-assed. I've yet to hear any of these new toys that sound or perform half-assed. Have you seen some of the 303 clones out there? Utter trash but it seems like Behringer chose not to add to the pile. From what i can tell, someone really knows how to reverse engineer

Is there a sample from a BoC song, (pete standing alone?) on one of the tracks on the D side of the bonus disk. The beat sounds familiar. And the next track samples from Flutter

Are BoC and Autechre now so old and established they are now just sampled instead of just as inspiration to a starting point to a certain type of sound?

Yeah, Better Plac4 samples Pete Standing Alone and Dark Ride samples Amo Bishop Roden. I also thought it was a bit on-the-nose

His 909 is on every track on the record, except those without drums, but he still tried to squeeze out novel sounds: getting a liquid effect by using a midi process that sent dense streams of information to the instrument, closely packed triggers varying in velocity and frequency. “You get these big oceans of sound that pulsate. There are moments when the 909 becomes more like a synth.”

This sounds so fucking good aaaaaaaaa. Waiting til after marriage though  two weeks
