To be fair, these companies probably sunk a lot of up-front R&D costs into these things, but this is another reason why healthcare should never be for-profit.

Probably not, but would try.
PS there is a KFC chicken with gravy dipping sauce at Pizza Hut now. Fucked up on so many levels... fast food chain collaboration being right at the top. They must be getting desperate.
I think KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell are all owned by one company. Sometimes in food courts and such you can find one small stand with all three, we used to call them KenTacoHuts.

things are pretty rough. in portland area every freeway on ramp/off ramp that has the grass triangle space between the freeway and the ramp is occupied by homeless people living in tents often surrounded by piles of trash. then along the sides of the little valley the freeway sits in are more campers and more garbage precariously perched on the slopes. the federal dollars can't get here soon enough... and many west coast cities of all sizes have the same and more problems.
Damn, I'm hoping to retire in the PNW in about 15 years or so (preferably somewhere on the sound north or south of Seattle). I hope things get better.

Nothing in my life so far has given me the impression that human beings (individually or in groups) are pure good, or pure evil, or pure anything else - and (perhaps more importantly) there's limits to how far you can actually re-educate someone or radically alter their current worldview
Quote“If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?”

I had a choice in that I could look around to different places and start the appointment process to see which vaccines they were giving out.
It seems that all of the people who experienced the clotting adverse events with the JnJ vaccine were female, ages 18-48. Could possibly be hormone related? I'm hoping that in the FDA meeting tomorrow they will decide to continue to allow males to get the JnJ vaccine.
-
Just got a cancellation notice. I wonder what the incidence levels of clotting were for the other vaccines...
Now, should I wait a little and see how long the investigation will take, or sign up for a Moderna / Pfizer? Probably shouldn't wait, but I was really hoping to get JnJ.

had an appointment scheduled this morning at Walgreens for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. the news comes on talking about the pause, and it was a confusing hour or so wondering if I should still go ahead. Walgreens finally called and cancelled the appointment. no worries, I booked one of the 2 dosers at Kroger for tomorrow morning.
I have an appt. for JnJ vaccine tomorrow, haven't heard anything yet. I kind of want the JnJ vaccine, why couldn't they have waited 2 days to pause?

NJ recently opened it up to "overweight" which they define as BMI > 25 (lol) and I'm 25.1 so I'm getting my shot (JnJ) on Wednesday. No appointments in central NJ but tons in south jersey where the population is more sparse & republican.

hopefully we get the original version of frontier psychiatrist on here at least.
as good as zomba is, i think it's safe to say that we'll never see the original versions of most of these trax officially released
Agree about frontier psychiatrist.
Also, the version of extra kings from that old documentary has some extra vocal samples that sound amazing:

Looks like the US store has been restocked.

Indeed I have, though thank you for the reminder that this exists! The omitted track is good in and of itself, I might have listened to this version once or twice but still go back to the original since it's the one I fell in love with back in the days where available music was a finite commodity. This of course having been ingested and imbued through subjective experience; not sure but I believe this is the part of the response where I type "YMMV": YMMV.
The thing I like most about the Zomba version is the "War" flute sample in Summer Crane & Extra Kings. Can't listen to the original versions of those songs anymore.

the recording Since I Left You is perfect as-is
Have you heard the "Zomba edition" leaked promo? It includes "with my baby" as track 3 and a fair number of samples throughout that they couldn't clear to be on the final album. I like it much better than the official version, and had hoped it would be on the deluxe reissue.

There's some confusion as to whether or not the CD comes with a 3rd disc. Their mailing list says
QuoteFor fans of the CD format, it comes with a bonus mix CD that we made especially for you, a journey through the flotsam and jetsam that has been floating around in the vaults for years.
and the graphic for the CD says 2CD + megamix.

I've always liked terriers. This is my current dog, Lola. She's some kind of terrier mix, and I love her beard. She has never barked in 3 years, mostly because she's afraid of everything and anxious all the time because she came from Puerto Rico where I'm sure she was abused in her early life. She loves to sit and sploot (didn't know what that term was before she caused me to look it up).

Felt like I was the last person on earth but I got my vaccine today.
My wife and practically my whole family has been vaccinated, except me, and I work for one of the companies that produced a vaccine.

This might be my favorite post lift your skinny fists. I have to get to know it a little more, though. There are some riffs, however, that seem very similar to some of their earlier stuff.
The last track is great, for sure. Seems much more like a silver mt. zion track than a GYBE track. Perhaps that's shaking it up a little?

One of my friends and teammates at work took her life on Wednesday. We have a really close team of about 15 and there was not 1 single person that even had a shred of a clue that she was going through anything, let alone something that dark. It’s such a shock and watching the ripple of devastation run through is horrible. Shit is no joke. Take care of each other and be kind. You never ever know what someone is going through...
So sorry to hear that. Sometimes you don't see it coming, but it's just as bad to see it coming. My niece died by suicide two years ago, she was only 20. Super smart, too smart, high anxiety, depression, extremely compulsive behavior. She attempted a few times before (and immediately regretted it), but the wonderful healthcare/insurance system in the US wouldn't pay for her to stay in the hospital or go for therapy for more than a few days afterward. We'd have to lock up knives/pills in the house until she would pull out of it, but with her compulsive behavior, it would just come flooding back at any moment.
My bother and sister-in-law were $40k in debt from her medical bills after she passed. Don't know about other countries, but mental health issues are not dealt with well enough in this country.

Just got my shot (J&J) this morning! Going to try and get as much work done today as I can before the side effects roll in.
