I came from Korea where I had a 100Mb connection for 20 bucks a month. Came back to Canada to a shitty 1Mb connection. Upgraded to a 7Mb connection, which never came close to hitting that download speed. Now am supposedly on a 50Mb connection - last speed test gave me 1.5Mb average download speed - and that's at the ISP's own speed test! FML

Ah I see. Yes, his stories are fairly similar - but I like his writing style. Easy to enjoy. Good page turners, better than Grisham or Brown or what have you.

I loved Anathem in an unhealthy sort of way. Neal's new one is out in 15 days; is being hyped as a "straightforward" "thriller." Yeah "Anathem" was great - really really enjoyable. I liked that the theme of the book was knowledge and our perception and acquisition of knowledge. I doubt I'll have time to read his new one until next summer. :( At least it should be available at the library by then (as in not on hold or checked out) New Murakami!!! Awesome Palahniuk is usually good, you should check him out. Although I still haven't read "Fight Club" lol.

Just finished reading "Anathem" - Neal Stephenson. Started up "In Search of Canadian Political Culture" - Nelson Wiseman. Since I feel like I know nothing about Canadian political culture. 2 days left of reading for myself - then it's on to school books.

hahaha, tell me about it. i don't even have enough money to afford the books I am using to teach my own class...that is fucking embarrassing... I was told you can get books for free by faculty but these seem to be from very hungry publishing companies. Funny thing - it's all the goddamned history texts that are expensive...I just wish they would publish book lists earlier - I could order some from Amazon but then I'd be 3 weeks into my classes with no books.

I find it's always unbalanced (from my experience anyway). One person does everything simply because they have higher standards. I've been on both sides of this, it's really weird and I don't know what to do about it. Are you better at cooking than her? I've had problems with that in the past - living with girlfriends who were amazing at cooking, and not wanting to cook anything myself because it'd pale in comparison. it's simple, wash the pots and stuff No, I meant I don't know what to do about it when my standards are higher than those who I live with. It's not really a question of standards. I mean, I'm a better cook, but that doesn't mean I should have to also wash the dishes, take out the trash, vacuum, do the laundry, buy the groceries, pick up the apartment, clean the bathroom, do the taxes, put away food that's left out, turn off electronics, close the windows when we leave, turn off all the lights, get the mail and keep track of the bills. Literally, I do fucking everything. Sometimes I truly believe my wife is border-line retarded. I have to keep tabs on everything or else our lives will go to shit. If you met my wife, it would al make sense. She is a lovable sweetheart but she does not exist in the physical realm. Time to invest in one of these: My first world problem for the last 6 weeks is that learning languages is hard work.

When people say sign Sneijder as a Scholes replacement, they don't mean in terms of playing time last season, they mean in terms of what Scholes brought to the team in terms of playmaking ability, vision, passing ability. Scholes at his prime was easily one of the top attacking midfielders in the world. Sneijder brings that same quality - and we definitely need a world class player, Dropp your assessment of our midfield is spot on. I don't think Cleverly will have his breakthrough this year (unfortunately).
