  1. Yeah man Bryson is typical reading, nothing new. Most of the bookolics will have read him. That Appalachian trail book was awesome. Same goes for the short history of everything and short history of home thingy. His latest was so-so.

His next book is a travel book about England, which seems a nice idea.

  2. Which is even a better to reason to read the book first now, so you don't get spoiled by the story or character design or set production from TV ads or the movie itself. Better to have it in your imagination first.

Ex: Is anybody able to read the LOTR book anymore without seeing Ian McKellen as Gandalf?

  3. Was checking out my bookshelves randomly, decided by chance to read this :

  4. Already know I'll need a character map because I'm really poor in remembering who's who in any book :

Since I'm always reading one fiction / one non-fiction at a time, this is really a fun book, makes me want to pack up and waste a year doing the AT too! :

  5. The Last Policeman, it reads super fast and it's entertaining, I hate Crime fiction but this is awesomely mixed with end-of-the-world scenario. There's two other books after that getting rave reviews on amazon, the trilogy will be my Christmas read.

  6. It's the third time I've tried to read Neuromancer. Look, I'm a big reader, I've actually read Gravity's Rainbow FFS, but I just can't get pass page 50 or so from Neuro. It's not bad, it's just that all those texture definitions, it leaves me cold. And the context of the book, the cyberpunk mumbo jumbo, it feels like I'm reading Jules Vernes (sci-fi that didn't age that well) but without the same writing quality.
