that's news to me! I'll dig out my copy of Purple Rain, think there's one somewhere
-
I think that's pretty apt; as much as he collaborates he's too technical and self-absorbed for his own good.
I could not stand One Word Extinguisher and I don't understand the hype it got; but maybe I should listen to it again. Ampexian was cash but I like that ADD style of music which I believe turns many people off.

well, yeah, it's actually in the title track, as an outro I think and possibly through it.

about 0:42 has some Plug track, can't pick which one off the top of my head
nor can I pick Whispering Giant though I think it might be Musipal?
Nice one! That's Come On My Skeleton for sure!
I think that Whispering Giant sample is on Toomorrow, although I'm still too lazy to check which track exactly.
aw yiss
this was actually an old skool find, i bought a bunch of stuff at a record fair and recalled hearing Don Ellis here on watmm before for that one.
i might just listen through Toomorrow and try and locate it

it's definitely an image thing putting him at ZOMG #1 ALBUM on a bunch of lists for Channel Orange, but assuming he's actually doing the heavy lifting for the songwriting I reckon he's got his best work ahead of him.
personally I hope he gets all disillusioned with the music industry and does a Swordfishtrombones.

a little bit of shuffling about suggests to me the Beats International one is the original. i can't find yet where the acapella stems from, but it probably came out on a single somewhere.
edit: spoke too soon. http://www.discogs.com/Norman-Cook-Wont-Talk-About-It-Blame-It-On-The-Bassline/release/103479

also in Mind Bending

also a Dilla beat, that one. glad to have the source come up; though I'm actually quite surprised the original timing is in 5/4. I thought it was more of a cut to loop it and get rid of some vocals.
killer break at 0:48 too.

Somebody put up a couple of the Space is So Startling samples from Big Soup. I believe the outro of Am I Still Dreaming came from there too but I can't find it here.

Every single release Jneiro Jarel's put out since 2004 is golden.
cool, tho what the fuck happened to the madvillain album!?
DOOM is no longer a citizen of America, makes the Madvillain collab now pretty hard now.
madlib should take a crate of records on a plane
and produce the rest of the album with only those records

That's the one!. Thank you.
-
Can't pick this one immediately, but it's definitely somewhere.
Little help?

You probably know about the Solstice sample by Brian Bennett in the song Tally Ho!
But do you know about this one? Vibert has a habit of using the same artists in the same songs, it seems. Probably due to physical limitations when he was back using his sampler, whatever came to hand.
Also, nobody cares about this thread but me. I should change my usertitle to reflect this.
