Wisp- Pogonip
-
Probably my favorite fast song from the album so far:
This is also really good:
-
So, I bought the new Wisp album. All I have to say is that it's now one of my top 3 releases of 2009, I fucking love it!
-
48khz seems to imply to me that the analords were recorded originally to DAT
That would explain the hiss they all have.
yes i forgot that hiss can only come from analogue tape and not from hundreds of pieces of antiquated analogue gear aphex twin has in his studio
i love how the website has all this stuff that isn't available on physical format yet, labels should do this more often. Especially one like Rephlex where they don't really have to worry about making sure they promote a record too hard, so they don't have to coordinate the ad campaign with the phyiscal release date
edit: also awesome they list the BPM on every track, more dance centric people should do this.
Yarhar, why be such a dick? =\

I like how they're ignoring the new releases.

monolith sounds good.
new afxlords: meh.
Love 7 sounds good
New Wisp: Really nice.
-
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT. ONLY 21 NEW AFX TRACKS. NO NEW MIX OF W32.DEADCODE.
THIS SUCKS
FUCK YOU REPHLEX
LOL

Also, why haven't I heard of Monolith before this? This is aweosme!
Monolith's a watmmer, although a somewhat reclusive one - he submitted some storming quality tracks to the 'watmm monthly remix competition' last year - check out the second track from round 2 (the one by 'anonb') - thats by Monolith and it totally wails.
Well, I'm really impressed by Volume 1 on Rephlex. So cheers to him.
I don't think I've heard a bad release from Reid either, solid. Also, are these available to be bought and downloaded right now or do you have to wait for the official release date in 2010 or whatever? >_>

What is the Manchester Track? The reference sounds familiar, but I can't place the sound.
-
We finally have the entire Analord series in great quality (not just a fucking vinyl rip)
They all still have that little "hiss" in the background still, haha.

Really liking "3 Notes Con". The title is really true too.
VBS.Redlof.B (bass version) is really good too.

Acciiiiddddd. Yay.

I dunno where you guys are getting the idea that his quality has tapered off recently...... In my opinion his releases are getting better and better
Meathole, Cavaclade, Hospitality, Infolepsy, Pink + Green, Detrimentalist, Filth, all of this stuff is latter era Vsnares and generally has a much higher quality control in my opinion.
And I mean, Cavaclade is probably the single most awesome release, full of melody as well as the typical brain scrambling beats
I agree. Though, for some reason, I've been disliking "Making Orange Things" less and less. His albums are much more consistent now then they used to be though. They sound equal through out, in the sense of goodness (to me).
Getting Raped by a Horse is easily his masterpiece
Aaron Funk has been bending listeners ears as well as their brains and bowels for some time now. His is the jarring sound of a robot amputee falling over in an ice cream van. As Venetian Snares, Funk has released a wealth of albums including the now legendary "Cadburys Ultra Nazi Tampax" and "Coughing Up The Semen Of A Rapist" on luminary labels Cakehole and Period Blood. Taken from his 12th album this week "Getting Raped By a Horse", My Bolg presents the claustrophobic brilliance of "viszontlátásra".
People this is funny.
I read it and listened to it. I actually laughed at it.
-
I'm on the other side of that, Meat Beat Manifesto doesn't entirely do it for me. I'll listen to it and like it more than most things, but I never choose to listen to him.
Though I really really like the side project of Tino Corp...
-
I have the first version of the iPod Video and it's still kickin'. I'm quite happy with it really.
-
Does the Horse and Goat image do that to you too?
-
For those of you who like songs about my cats..... teach me because I don't really get that one yet. I suppose I just need to listen a few times.
I just like it since I love cats. What could be better for a cat person than an album dedicated to cats that sounds like something cats would make with sounds of cats? The song that got me into this album was "Bobo", the songs that kept me in and made me listen to it all were "Chinaski" and "Poor Kakarookee."
When you're smiling and,
When you're not.
Good song.

I feel that 1961 is better than the self titled album too.
I agree. Not by a whole lot, but I agree.
The only track that I actually like from the Last Step album (that I'll listen to as a stand alone song that is) is "You're a Nice Girl [Remix]".
Color TV and Baby Powder are cool too, I suppose.

I just can't figure out what anyone sees in HCCBU and Cavalcade myself. By the way, has Joyrex posted yet?
Cavalcade flows together really well as an album. Not to mention it's a step back from a lot of his downright aggressive stuff or his jungle stuff while still retaining the chaotic structure. The melodies are really nice as well, if I had to compare it to something, I'd say it's like Rossz, only with synth melodies instead of classical elements, if that makes sense.
As for HCCBU, that album, to me, is just really fun to listen to. Ion Divvy is just a listening experience with the massive amount of stereo abuse. As for the rest of the album, I just happen to really like clicks and cuts for percussion and I find humor in all the Speak & Spell/Math samples, yet they fit really well. It sounds delightfully mechanical and robotic.
No love of Find Candice. Gutted. Completely gutted.
I mentioned it. Children's Limbo and the remix of Befriend a Childkiller are great.
last step - last step
I actually have 1961 on disk and like it a fair bit. It's different, but still interesting. Has a lot of cheesiness in it though, so I listen to it in small doses. I feel that 1961 is better than the self titled album too.

As a quick aside: Do you think Aaron is a serious fucking psychopath? I mean.... I would not at all be surprised to learn that he ends his career by getting caught for the murder of hundreds of little girls or something. Do you think it's just tongue-in-cheek humor or does this guy have some SERIOUS fucking issues?
I think he's just a genuinely weird guy.
I forgot to put the Hospitality EP in my list, shit.
