Community service announcement:
Remember: it’s ok to love both Elseq and NTS.
And I do. In fact Elseq 4 and 5 are two of my all time favourite Ae releases.
-
The all end broadcast is going to overcome all the bitchy hot takes and be wistfully recalled as a legendary moment among autechre fans.
Oh my the reassertion at 45:10, what a trip all end is!
I got there already and it was only my second listen. Over my overreaction.
-
Oh dear. How could I have got this so badly wrong?
Wait, I know... I should never have listened to the live stream on low quality speakers in the first place. I didn’t listen live to 1 and 2.
The truth is, all end is magnificent! A majestic behemoth of a thing with sub-bass to die for, a subtle, rolling melody and far more nuance than could ever be apparent on that stream. I’ll be falling asleep (or into a trance) to this many many times in the future.
Oh, and column thirteen is one of the single most beautiful Ae tracks I’ve ever heard.
-
As this stream loops back around I'm remember how much I like hour 1.
Overall we got 7 solid hours of great Ae this month
I'll stop complaining
I too will cease complaining for same reasons. Plus I'll need to listen to that again at high quality.
-
One thing about pressing this to vinyl - presumably they'll have to fade in and out of this track. So you could at least selectively listen to shorter stretches of it rather than all as one piece. If you find it a little boring, that is.
-
You might miss it!I ended up turning it off. Be back when they play another note.

AE have never been anything but self-indulgent.We don't need Ae doing it in as self-indulgent a way as this.
Which in now way invalidates my point.
-
contextThere's really nothing special about it at all.
There are dozens of ambient artists out there making this kind of thing. And better. We don't need Ae doing it in as self-indulgent a way as this. NTS4 started so well...

This track is... taking the piss a teensy bit. There's really nothing special about it at all.
-
Yikes... my house is shaking

What on earth?!

Or else.

Oh... the rusty gate led into a graveyard. Spooky...
-
They're just messing about with rusty gates now... what's going on with this?
-
I listened to session 1 through speakers for the first time yesterday and it went way up in my estimation. Going to leave it a few weeks before listening to session 2 again, I think I need to give each one some time to sink in.
I was going to post exactly the same thing after, well, doing exactly the same thing. Session 1 just sings through speakers compared to cans. I can't recall them doing so many amazingly complex things with the sound-stage before - this is next level for that too.
-
Oh shit.
No way in the world I can afford the vinyl... actually feel like crying a tiny bit.
Get a fucking grip man.
They also appear to be stealth-listed as individual 3-LP sets, as shown on this page...That's either good news or bad news, depending on how much of a completist you are! -

I have to agree that the samples of this sound amazing. Going to have to order based on those alone as it sounds like the best (and probably most accessible) stuff he’s put out for an age.
-
ended up not liking it. i like what they're doing, but i just didn't find the songwriting up to snuff- to mention like fumi, i couldn't even fathom "wanting" to listen to this again.
It’s starts off strong but then just sort of slips into an oily neutral and doesn’t go anywhere. Shame.
Ah well, new Advisory Circle LP is up next!

The Incunabula artwork was clearly recreated as it’s markedly different from the original.
How is it different?
Oh wait - it's based on the 2001 repress. But that repress is the one that was recreated rather than simply reprinted.
- Different (and cheaper) metallic ink process.
- Lighter tone overall (probably more to do with the card stock it's printed on - the old issues were that horrible grey cardboard).
- Almost all typography is a different size, occasionally a slightly different weight and kerned differently.
- Track titles are laid out differently on back cover and inside gatefold
- Postal address is different.
-
I’d be happy if they just got around to Chiastic Slide and LP5 as the next batch. Would make sense as then they could do the “scary” trilogy all together in the next one.
If they’re going to fully recreate the sleeves for those two it’ll be expensive.

damn that bump, son!
Hehe. But I want LP5 on vinyl again so badly. My original got destroyed by water damage and the sleeves were so thoroughly ruined I threw it out.
-
Where the hell is the next batch of reissues? We're not going to get them are we...

Ugh! That's really annoying. Why do labels do this? Guess what I'm going to have to do when my vinyl copy arrives then?
