  1. I panicked and saved every single comment, every album artwork, every track during the initial week this happened

But now that I started taking it for granted and assuming it would always be there, I stopped doing so and focused on the music. Richard probably prefers people to do this anyhow. But I do sort of wish I continued to be a bit more obsessive.

  2. Gonna be honest... I still need to get fully into drukqs.

Live set versions of tracks are amazing - playing the whole album through, less so.

I also think Go Plastic is much more complex and satisfying. So sue me :)

go plastic amazing, but it's child's play in comparison

  3. Aside from the musical aspect of all of this, I think what's also incredible about the SC gift is that it's yet another thing RDJ has done that is soooo beyond the norm and separates him from of any of his contemporaries....I don't know of ANY acclaimed and professinal artist (let alone a Grammy winner) that has given away around 200 songs (many of them easily releasable or even classics) for free. I equally admired his game changing videos with Chris C (that somehow even made it on MTV) or the balls to name his remix collection "26 Remixes for Cash" etc etc etc and again that's untop of how unique and multifaceted his music is. RDJ is breaking boundaries left and right. Having said that, perhaps the most shocking thing of them all is that he is shedding a bit of light on his personal side, something I think we all never expected, through his comments on SC. Even this is unique. He's skipping journalists and even conventional social media, to chat with his fans exclusively via SC. wtf

he could have spent like an hour figuring out how to release these as mini-albums or EPs on bandcamp and made $9999999999999999999 but literally just didn't want to (one comment said "I hate money" or something). Who else does this shit? I'm sure lots of other people do also, but none of them actually have the potential for massive gains that he does so they're not actually losing potential money by releasing free.

    hes the best.

admittedly some of this stuff (a small subset) is definitely not "release-quality" so to speak in any way. But it's still great and I will be listening for years to come. But some of it is completely 100% release quality, some of it's his best stuff ever in my eyes

    cottage tracks? fuck yes

    floating oo? yes please more

the ab6 tracks? YES. please let me give you my money.

Some of it's completely unlike anything else he's ever released. Some of it's a complete one-off where there's not another track I've heard in my life that even seems similar but it's just one random thing he made then forgot about

    immense lushness

The "suits" comment also got me wondering if that is the reason behind any of the delay. Or just behind a few being pulled.

i, for one, am a lot more interested in soundcloud since aphex started dumping there. i dont mean f5ing his page, i am checking out other musicians and i am more likely to upload to and support soundcloud now. the suits should see that this is good for them. maybe they think sc was doing fine and aphex traffic fucked things up, but in the long run, like 5 or 10 years from now when it's in danger of crapping out like virtually all websites do, they will be glad for the vitality james infused into it.

I know we all like to think rdj is a massive superstar and bringing tons of traffic to soundcloud atm, but when usher or other morons like that upload a new track it instantly gets like a trillion views. Richard's views are nothing compared to this piece of shit track's 45m views

  5. right now 33 synthi rhy [q] to notting hill bus are the highlights for me. 14 floating oo is amazing, heliosphan live is so squelchy and nice - though I do always have a soft spot for alternate versions of tracks. 179 brk is fucking slick

thank you richard. feels greedy but looking forward so much to more being posted. check the soundcloud at least 10x a day. more calx please

EDIT: Is it T08+4, looks like I've also got a copy of it in the Syrobonkers folder

Nah, he did actually upload that one to this page too.

You have a file "28/01/2015 16:39 6,285,008 ep string.mp3" that I don't have. The file named 'bell bass.mp3' (that we both have) is actually the track titled 'ep string' on SC. Your 'ep string.mp3' seems to be much smaller than the 'bell bass.mp3' file, what does it sound like?

    bitrate 128 & bitrate 320... :spiteful:

Aha yeah, that's it, my 'ep string' was a 128kb version and is ideed the same as 'bell bass'. That clears that up then, thanks guys !

I've still two 128kb tracks - Red Calx, and Girl Boy Dark Version. Am I right in thinking they were stream only when they existed hence the bit rate ?

Yes there is no 320 girl boy, but you can speed up 320 red calx [slo] to half speed and it's exactly the same but hq
