  1. i probably don't listen to enough music to even know if boc is derivative, but if they can make me enjoy vangelis's cheesy bullshit then steal away.

BOC isn't derivative, they were the first ones to ever use fuzzy synths

  2.

cant think of a smarter question, but pretty curious about that one : there is a 30min recording of Gescom, live in manchester in 2002.

are you involved in that ?

    u got a link?

just to be clear, theres a few geswackers

Did you really smash buttons into your keyboard randomly and come up with the name "Autechre"

mbe not random, but i had no idea after AU' of the outcome.

Was AU meant for Gold, or Astronomical Units, or something else

  3.

How about Mark Fell's Composing With Process PodCast?

in the upcoming second part of the first episode they will play a track by Sean Booth called Horizon

    31:44 Sean Booth 'Horizon', 2004 (20 min)

'Horizon' is a generative piece composed in the BBC BASIC programming language. It was composed for the rand()% generative internet radio station in 2004 but was never broadcast. The aim of the piece was to use as little code as possible and be interesting enough to hold the attention.

    Where is it?

    oh yeah

basically we're exclusive to warp, but we can do stuff with mates as gescom (but we can't do solo stuff or use any other names, particularly our own names)

mark just didn't know so he put my name, and we couldn't put it out then even if he changed the name.. it was my fault for not saying

happened w/kouhei as well but that was already produced when i found out (oops)

    This seems ridiculous

You're one of Warp's top acts and they can't give you a little bit of freedom?

  4. AE are Gods.

Can anyone else name a single group who continually produces this much music, and every single release is as good as or better than the last one? Or a totally new spin that's good in its own way or not comparable

Most are like two good releases tops then the rest live in their shadows.

No other electronic group could top or sidestep Chiastic Slide, or Confield, or Draft, or Untilted, or Quaristice even, or Oversteps or fucking anything yet AE constantly does it.

They aren't human, they must be aliens

I almost want to start laughing then crying at just how ridiculously good they are

  5. Honestly I don't understand the hate for oversteps/MOT. They're both fucking incredible and, IMO, represent huge leaps forward for Autechre. Quaristice has it's moments, but overall in terms of sound design etc Oversteps and MOT are incredible and I definitely understand the transition into Exai.

Unfortunately I have to disagree with those of you saying that Oversteps is their best. Exai basically rapes all previous releases with a razor blade condom and habanero pepper puree for lube.

    Exai is it guys.

Oversteps is beautiful. But Exai is Autechre....?

I think you mean Draft is Autechre

  6. I think the EP will be better than the LP and it will be like a trimmed down version of what they did with Move of Ten vs Oversteps

It will sound rawer like outtakes they couldn't fully flesh out for Exai because they were too beastly, and better than anything on Exai

  7. Has anyone got examples of watermarked stuff - is there audible stuff, is there stuff in the 'above hearing frequency' range, is it to do with gap lengths between tracks?

Watermarked spl9 that leaked before Exai just has some high pitched ringing in it about 2 minutes in. It's not even distinct really it's like they just put a 16khz band starting and stopping at a certain time. Easy to overcome
