  1. Well, I finally found a copy through legal channels at a reasonable price. Holy balls this is good. Even the version of IO....I love it. And whoever pointed out that it allows you to see the lineage with Untilted a lot more clearly was dead on. This pretty much renders my "Platonic Quaristice" playlist obsolete, because for my money the versions disc is the platonic form of Quaristice.

In interviews I read SB mentioning that they were trying to choose between releasing a 10-track version and what ended up being the official release. Hearing this, I have to wonder if instead of (versions) as it says, this was the album as originally planned.

from a reviews standpoint, I suppose it was a good call to release Quaristice as they did because reviewers really liked it and saw it as ae changing it up (as if they don't totally reinvent their sound for every album anyways).

Attention spans are getting shorter and I suppose that means that a band like ae is hurt because of that.

Just look at what happened with Exai (really, just with Pitchfork, but those dicks are so influential that I'm sure that review score hurt sales of the album). Chaps my arse to read a review that essentially says, "this is all really good stuff but should have been shorter" translated into a score in the 50s.

I hope those dick reviews don't push ae away from releasing long-form stuff or avalanches of material in the future. For my money the quality they maintain despite how prolific they are is pretty much unparalleled in modern music. Sure there are some pieces I like more than others but since my re-discovery of ae they have pretty much been all I listen to.

I wish I could find other artists that anywhere near approached their level of sonic and timbral adventurousness combined with restraint/taste. But no one else does it all. Like, there are some groups that do cool things in, say, the world of German electronic music. But its all so sterile and cerebral. Autechre bangs hard despite doing some things with sound design that would make all sorts of academics green with envy.

I'll stop the ramble here. Point is, I love (Versions) - easily more than the album; I hope PFs nasty review of Exai doesn't deter them from releasing further avalanches of sound; and I wish there were other Autechres in the world.

    It is absolutely unparalleled

There is not a single AE release I don't like. There are some I don't love, like maybe We R Are Why, but they are all top notch otherwise

As for Quaristice, I think I prefer versions over the original album. IO (mons) is one of my favorite AE tracks of all time, mainly the second half. it's unbeatable

  2. Untitled is absolutely 100% obviously a drukqs throwaway

on the off 0.00000001% chance that it's not, it's the best fake drukqs attempt ever and is worthy of a release

  3. And if his name was Anthony Naggertano?

    :whistling:

I'd say "wow forget anthony naggertano" because being a nagger is already a bad thing

it's not bigotry if it rhymes

"my feelings get hurt by comments on the internet in syro thrad that dont involve not liking the album"

  4.

    wow forget fagtano

If you could please not use bigoted insults, you'll save yourself a lifetime banning.
its not a bigoted insult its just a coincidence with the name his way is spelt

if his name was anthony hastardtano i'd say "wow forget bastardtano" and that isn't bigoted

    lol

    edit: /thread

  6. I'm scared to listen to the non-live tracks

I've always regretted not milking the "I've never listened to this song ever before until right now" experience on other albums and I don't want to mess up on this one

  7.

got my blerp vinylz today (Monday) in flyover nowheresville midwest usa

    DAMN!!!

I'm not pre-ordering from Bleep again. I live in LOS FUCKING ANGELES and my package tracking says…

    • "Expected Delivery Day: Thursday, September 25, 2014"

    suicide.gif

That's what I get for pre-ordering the instant it goes live.

If it doesn't come with crazy swag, I'm gonna raise hell.

Got mine off amazon and its coming tomorrow lol gf

  8. I've caved but still only listened to the tracks that were available live beforehand and I already think this is my favorite rdj album ever. Definitely drukqs level but in a completely different way. it's amazing

I can't wait to hear the stuff that is actually a new release not a re-release of live stuff, and the japanese bonus track that is supposedly really new

holy fuck i can't wait to get my CD it's hard to not hit slsk

  9. I'm almost giving in but at this point I've only listened to minipops and xmas_evet. They are both absolutely amazing in HQ. I want my CD now. Post man came to my door with stuff and I was hoping for it early but it wasn't there so now I have to wait all weekend to even see again.

  10. playing nothing but rdj as i drive now in preparation

revisiting older stuff i dont listen to much (as in stuff that isn't drukqs or rushup edge)

its awesome. polygon window. analog bubblebirths, etc

  11. But the metz track is at least a st michael's mount or vordhosbn level track already lol

I know but we already have it in medium okay quality

I say lq Vordhosbn + hq St Michsel > lq Vordhosbn + hq Vordhosbn

  12.

Wow, people not wanting Metz and Singapore to be on there. Tsk tsk tsk.

yea I'm a bit surprised by this as well

It's not like I want it removed from the album so it has less tracks

But what if the album only fits x number of tracks and Metz and Manchester replace a potential St Michael Mount or Vordhosbn level track that now we won't even have low quality of or any quality of

  13. If Metz, Manchester and Singapore tracks are on Syro, there'll still be 9 or 10 (on Japanese edition) new, exclusive ones. Pretty perfect if you ask me : how could the studio versions not be better than those Youtube vids ? Even if poorly recorded, they already sound fantastic : how could it be wrong to have their proper versions ? There'll still be plenty to discover on the record, even in those tunes were familiar with.

What if they're on there instead of another good track that we could have heard but now don't get to because it was replaced by one we've already heard

  14.

I for one am hoping that it is completely new material that hasn't been heard by the public.

I will be slightly disappointed if he uses material he has already shared with the public.

    Yeah, same.

We already have Manchester, that's cool, but I'd rather have some new tunes than having Metz and Singapore in there too.

Yeah. The quality is shit but I'd rather have low quality Metz + high quality new instead of low quality Metz + high quality Metz.

  15.

well considering that any kind of digital doohickey is a computer, if he used a digital sequencer, then no. its not the case.

Not all digital doohickeys are computers
err, wrong. digital implies computing or the digits would be useless. even a digital watch is a computer, I see what you're getting at though.

also what if tom was lying?

Digital only implies discrete values as opposed to the continuous ones of analog

You can make all sorts of digital circuits (doohickeys) that aren't computers and don't compute anything mathematically valuable

  16. If this album wasn't released by BOC I probably wouldn't even buy it

It's shit compared to everything else they're ever released ever. Except for that one track Jacquard Causeway

wait so that means jacquard and palace posy? I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Palace Posy is the worst BOC track of all time. It's like something you'd hear on some quasi-indie movie as the pre-worn jean wearing hipsters jostled each other back and forth walking down the street laughing pretending to be friends, pointing at each other in an inquisitive way as if to say "Look at this guy isn't he ridiculous, what's he doing? Point the camera at him"

And the guy's doing nothing interesting
