  1. yeah ha srsly. economic use of space there! how's that korg 700s? ive always had a bit of a yearn on for one. the chroma is really nice. it has very vibrant defined character, very versatile. i found it in a classified section in a newspaper back in 2001 for $300. it would turn on, but wouldn't make any sounds because of a ruined cpu board, so it just sat in my dad's garage until a year or so ago when i managed to get a new cpu board and power supply for it. still most of the voice boards arent working, but it's lovely as a duo phonic synth anyways. it was very satisfying to hear it after having grown up staring at it trying to imagine what it sounded like!
  2. its an ssl alphalink into madixtreme card in a thunderbolt chassis. it's pretty good bang for buck channel count wise for nice converters!
  3. cheers. yeah its very cozy and very warm up in there!
  4. our roommate moved out recently so im going to be relocating my above bed lab to a quieter room where i dont have to worry about late night sounds waking up my gf. it has been a neat spot tho:
  5. 1st world problem but a massive 3rd world success!
  6. well i will tell you who steinvord is. ive kept it a secret this long and i cant bare all the deaf specualtion anymore. steinvord was indeed an 18 year old spaniard. he does not live in spain however. sometime in the early 90's right around when rephlex was started grant and richard were very heavily researching cia mind control, jonestown, mengele etc. all of that greasy stuff. they fell victim to the same social optimism and misguided altruism that struck every previous organization that had attempted it and started their own experiment. the idea was that by raising a child in isolation, sharing no spoken or written language with it and with only synthesizers and drum machines to express itself, they would create the ultimate organic braindance machine. they purchased an out of service remote holding area in siberia from the russian government and then set about trying to find the right candidate for the insane manipulation they had planned (incidentally it was on a trip to this holding cell years later that richard met his current gf). of note is that due to damage from bombings in wwII the cell itself wasnt suitable to prevent an escape, so an actual prison of synthesizers was constructed to keep the subject in. example below: it was around '94 or '95 that they fell into what must have seemed like a perfect mission affirming scenario. after aphex had played a set in paris he ran afoul of some spanish gypsies during a passionate 3 day lsd binge. from these gypsies he acquired information on spanish boy who had been kidnapped as a baby and raised in a suitcase. he immediately flew to spain and purchased the boy (my sources say he tried his best to haggle, but ultimately he paid higher than you would think due to the gypsy's natural talent for swindling). he and grant got tickets to russia and checked the boy at the airport. once they arrived they took a train to the holding cell and from what i understand they released the clasps on the parcel leaving hurriedly, expecting the child to burst out. of course because of the length of his imprisonment steinvord didnt come out until he was starved and parched after 5 or 6 days. some have speculated that because of the tight quarters the bag, he may have actually felt as though he was going to fall towards the ceiling when he emerged. this is a true story. im not sure where the name steinvord came from, but both richard and tom have referenced him in the track titles 'vordhosbn' and 'steinbolt'. also of note is that the 'i make music on a fuckin computer' from the myspace page is in fact a jab at keith fullerton whitman who insisted to tom jenkinson in a telephone interview that an eventide dsp was a computer. tom, grant and richard attempting a last laugh by parading their own twisted human computer. there were a couple photos of him that made the rounds a few years back. example below: anyways, im sure no one will believe it, but this is the truth.
  7. awe thanks dudes. the total success pack vocals are from a tony robins audio book. def should check out the chatmm comps! loads of wicked nice stuff on those. the halloween one recently released really blew my socks off. loads of fresh weird talent in our community. the fenix is pretty cool! you can def make wild nice tracks with a computer solo. i think the real treat with hardware stuff is you start to feel like you are hanging out with friends when you are writing tunes and your role is as a mediator between all these personalities and just sort getting a nice conversation going. anyways, cheers guys. really feels nice to know people listen to the stuff. now lets not talk about me anymore because it makes me uncomfortable heh.
  8. cheers. yeah i wrote that one a few days after i got my fenix II synth. i deleted it because the modulation on the formant filter on the lead sound was too busy and the drums are shit lol. its nice that someone liked it enough to upload to youtube. no albums. ive got a bunch of wanky tunes, but nothing that feels strong enough. i get pretty self conscious about my music because it is pretty derivative and so i dont really want to properly release anything unless i feel like it can really stand on its own and isnt just cool because its has some rdj sounds in it. the closest thing to an album would be the live2 track on sc which is a live hardware jam of some tunes of im working on. the first several minutes is a bit of an ambient wank, but if you power through that then it gets into some ok braindance. my drum programming is shit though lol. anyways, nice to know people are enjoying my stuff. thats what its all about.
  9. it says in the rules very clearly that you should never hold love in your heart
  10. lol i really am afx! sorry for being weird all time the time dudes, i love you all to bits.
  11. good points on the noodle speculation. is there a difference between common knowledge and popular opinion?
  12. i know you crazy but i still love you. i just want to be intense because i want to fit in and have an opinion about something. noodles gonna get eaten i dont care. def will cut you guys if you push this noodle flavour ignorance any further tho.
  13. huffpo is worse than slate. it is the liberal equivalent to sun media. you get a quote from a scientist up in here and we can talk about it.
  14. i dont want to be rude because i recognize you guys have a learning disability but i cant allow these lies to have life. notice the apologetic 'some' before the word flavour. this poster is obviously well studied and chooses to patronize the ignorant salt flavour believers. idk guys all i ask is that you wake up to these ignorant lies you are surrendering yourselfs to.
  15. well we all know google is a brainwashing lie machine. so that alone should confirm that you are wrong.
  16. idk i bet i could find a bunch of links to back myself up, but i dont think it makes any difference. you going to salt for your reasons and im going to salt for mine. probably what the truth is is that the part of your brain that registers salt (wrongly) is the part of my brain that registers texture (correctly).
  17. lol slate. lemme link a buzzfeed article for you. how much salt you adding to 'brine' your noodles? that is fucked.
  18. this whole thing with the salt water and the noodles is for real wrong. cosby is maybe wrong idk. but adding salt to water you are boiling noodles in to give the noodles a salt flavour is proper wrong. it is a rape of facts. root you should change your name to cosby5
