So I've got this old midiman. It's old. It's got a serial interface.

I wonder. If i buy a serial-usb adapter, would it work?

Cheers.

will it need a driver? It says on the box compatible with all Macintosh computers...plus this is from before M-audio owned them i think...

it also says: compuserve: midibven forum (section 2).

God it's a piece of ancient history.

Worth a shot though...it'll still work with the MacPLus that I know is lying around back home. Gotta get my dad to bring it over when he comes to visit..

I would assume it needs a driver as no matter what the Mac isn't realyl going to know what to do with this newfound signal on its USB port without one. How many ins/outs does it have? You know these aren't very expensive new, right?

it's a 1x1 interface, yes I know they're cheap, but since I have a total of 1 MIDI instruments if I can spend 5 bucks on a converter rather than 50 on a new interface...

True, although 1x1's are more like $40, but anyway let us know how it works out, Im curious to see if the timing stays ok through the converter.
