Myspace advertising skinny models front page

Knowing myspace allows 13 year old children on their site and they are advertising this model on the front page, as well as her and her it's no wonder why many of them are affected. It's essentially giving a soft porn mag to a child by an old business man (who runs myspace).

In normal circumstances this would be illegal, but because a huge corporation does it it's totally fine, apparently.

Oh, and alcohol too. Fosters is being advertised too.

I know a lot of you so far have been making a joke, but there is a serious underline that is clearly going over some boundaries.

If a man of 40 gave these images to a kid of 12/13 in the street and said 'here, read if you like' he would be labelled as a paedophile no doubt and put on the list for the rest of his life and UK residents will I'm sure agree with me on this.

My dad is not a peadophile, he wasn't when I was 13 either. Neither is LUDD.

So in turn your mother gave your 12/13 year old sister a soft porn mag for men?

Or a magazine advertising how great alcohol and beer is in general at your age?

Your mother also gave to your sister who's 12/13 a soft porn mag which depicted 'beautiful' as anorexic?

For fuck sake if you people were serious for a second you'd get a fucking point.

No, my Dad gave me porn.

No, my Dad gave me beer.

I've just asked my mum and apprently she had a book of naked guys, like a glamour book, and she used to let my sister look at that.

I'm sitting here with my parents, so your not gonna cut a lot of ice with me on this one mate.

I'm not a hyped up freak who thinks kids should live in a bubble and if i had my own kid I'd let him play in the mud, let him ride a bike round where i live, i'd tell him about sex and alcohol and the dangers

but if some myspace tries to sex up alcohol that it's a good thing or that anorexic women are desirable because they have t obe pretty.. essentially warping his perspective on things THEN I'm pissed off.

I don't care if myspace advertises this shit but if it's on the front pae where KIDS go to logon, then they are going to see this.

What's the limit? Do you think you're going to give your son at 10 years old a BDSM video of porn? Or a soft core video of porn?

Are you going to give your daughter a beauty magazine where all models of 'beauty' depicted are anorexic?

Ah ok, your point becomes clearer, and yes I do see where your coming from. I thought this was going onto another downhill thread about 15 year old girls on facebook, sorry.

I'll let my better half decide all of that, but when shes not in I might sneak them a free preview, not at 10 thought, thats just sick.

Myspace from what I know is 13. That's only 3 years age difference.

I have yet to have kids, but when I was 13 I was getting my hands on the filthiest shit I possibly could, especially via the internet and at that age you can put all the boundaries in possible as parents to stop them obtaining graphical content, but they'll see it somewhere, magazines, some kid at school or whatever. At least if they get it from me I know where it's from and what it is.

Joshier you have a womans magazines approach to tackling issues. You get all worked up with small issues when the problems are much broader.

You need to zoom out.

I know the bottom line of this is, it's up to the parents and I agree to a certain extent. If I was a parent I'd be more than interested in what my kids seeing.

Though you have to say that this blatant advertising isn't going to solve any of our current problems. it's one of the reasons why I was so pissed off with skins because the people looks very young and if a kid sees this he/she is only going to relate to it easier than seeing adults fucking. Not only that but myspace is showing this to everyone, publicly without logging in. They could easily fix this.

lol @ Rambo

Ok to settle this argument, my better half has just told me I'm not allowed to show our kids porn at age 13, so you win.

This isn't about winning. I'm just trying to express my point of view from the way I see it.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not the type that has forgotten his childhood. I was watching some fucked up shit like car crash cinema when I was 14/13 ish and I used to look through the catalogue for clothes and wank over the women - but I wasn't enticed into buying alcohol and I wasn't made to feel I was left out by seeing slightly older looking people fucking in front of my eyes on the TV *cough* Skins *cough*.

You're forgetting that we're already more depraved than our parents and, most probably, any era before us. If you're getting into a discussion on social-decline consider that we're already at the bottom of the barrel, as far as we know. Fuck it, let's see what's underneath the barrel.

Edit: I don't have children. If I did I'd be much more terrified about the state of the world.
