Since when has Mr. James ever put out something that he wants his audience to take completely seriously? He seems to continually play upon naive/immature themes and more mature/adult themes. I think if anything he doesn't want to do what is expected of him and get trapped doing the same thing over and over again. I think Drukqs is his best album for that reason. He displays a wide variety of styles, tempos, and moods; and ties them together with a staggering level of detail and subtlety.

If you're at all aware of the encounter I had with him over my opinion of DrukQs, then you'll realize that he takes his work very seriously, and by extension, wants that same level of respect for it from his audience.

I think that's true for most artists, myself included.

Given his penchant for media mayhem I doubt your encounter with him was completely genuine on his side. If he were that easily offended (I'm familiar with the whole "quite good" thing) I doubt his career would have lasted this long.
