any fans? what a great band this is. so ahead of their time its not even funny. their two albums from the late 60s still hold up incredibly well.. in fact, they couldve been released last week and would still sound fresh. love the rhythms, the old synths.. everything. classic stuff. they reformed in the 90s and the drummer died a few years ago so i guess they exist today only in name (the singer still tours as silver apples).. ah well, the two records from the 60s are more than enough.

(...) in 1996 the Silver Apples mysteriously resurfaced, as Simeon and new partner Xian Hawkins released the single "Fractal Flow." American and European tours followed, and a year later, a new LP, Beacon, was released to wide acclaim. The follow-up, Decatur, appeared in 1998, and was soon joined by A Lake of Teardrops (a collaboration with avowed fans Spectrum) as well as The Garden, the long-unreleased third and final effort from the original Simeon/Taylor partnership. However, on November 1, 1998, the Silver Apples' van crashed while returning from a New York gig; the accident left Simeon with a broken neck and spinal injuries, from which he recovered, performing under the band name well into the 2000s. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

brilliant stuff. the more 60s/70s electronic music i discover, the more i realise that modern electronic music (even idm) really isn't anything special - i refer to stuff like harmonia and tangerine dream as well as silver apples.
