Seeking a specific Art Documentary/Series

I can't give much info. It was quite lengthy (many parts).

The host was (I assume) English (at least i gathered as much from his accent).

It was very thorough, and went to many museum's and had lots of detail throughout it's sections, and iirc, was a great series.

Saw it in 2001 in my class "Art and Music in Western Culture". It was all basically European art.

I've been really wanting to see it again. Yes I have tried googling, and youtubing.

thx. :emotawesomepm9:

I can't actually remember when this came out (00s some time) but it's quite fantastic:

American link which seems to be more recently updated:

I absolutely <3 Nigel Spivey, he's a Cambridge historian who does quite a lot of programmes about art history over here.

ACtually that's probably not your series, I think it's too late.

But it's still worth watching.

Especially anyone interested in the hallucinatory state/lucid dreaming/altered mind states, he actually has really convincing evidence that the very first human artists did so in an effort to replicate trance states.

The Ascent of Man by J. Bronowsky?

Ok, now I'm just shouting out random things on the telly that had massive effects on me as a child.

None of these are it so far. But thx for trying. And that stuff Kaen recommended looks awesome.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't PBS b/c iirc my professor said the set of all the videos was quite pricey.
