I didn't tear it apart, i just commented on the last statement being wrong, which it is.

From http://map.gsfc.nasa.gov/site/faq.html

General relativity does require that no object can move through space faster than the speed of light

........

The key idea behind inflationary theory is the notion that the universe underwent a period of accelerated expansion during the first 10^{-34} seconds (0.0000000000000000000000000000000006 seconds). During this inflationary period, the universe doubled in size at least 90 times.

at this point, there is absolutely no conceivable way of traveling faster than the speed of light, let alone approaching it.

i'm excited for the next 50 years of science though, because hey, you never know what they'll find out by then. all this dark matter shit is quite a mystery, as well as the ultimate fate of the universe. as our science suggests, it will eventually rip all atoms apart while continuing its seemingly unceasing acceleration, but again, as humans we can only see so much of the picture from our little plot of rock here in the milky way. we're unimaginably far from conclusively knowing the nature of the universe.

What did you correct here?

"If something were more than 14 billion years away it would take more than 14 billion years to reach us"

Light from the early universe is 78 billion light years away and yet has only taken 14 billion years to reach us.

Dragon, what did you use to make your avatar/sig?

Flash. I used a Hex Editor to glitch up some images, then I exported them in varying qualities of .JPG and played them all at once to get that grainy video effect. I did something quite interesting to my avatar. If you were to take it, colour-invert it, then rotate it 180 degrees, you get the same image... :shuriken:
