Online Poker

Anyone here play Online Poker? And if so, which do you play?

I'm on PokerStars at the moment because I was pulled in by a freeroll tournament that could pay out a couple of hundred quid, but it was obviously pretty impossible when 7000+ members enroll and those that have money in their accounts can bully the bets with automatic re-buys. It must've been quite the hunting ground for professional gamblers actually.

Anyway, we should play Poker, WATMM.

Oh yeah, I should probably make it clear that I wouldn't want to play for money. I've only ever played for free online

I'll destroy you face-to-face, but online gambling is too addictive to use money.

There's no regret or remorse when it's just numbers disappearing. You need to feel the notes being passed across and the dejected look on someone's face as they try and bluff all-in and get called out. The utter heartbreak of getting down to a face-off, standing up from the table like pro's do on TV, and then losing a perfectly good hand to someone who never realised they had a straight. Argh!

I played at pokerroom many years back when it was legal in the states with real money. I mostly played $5 tourney's since I didn't have the $$ to play with the fat stacks. I made quite a few final tabes and took 1st place 1 time which netted me almost $600. Took 2nd two times.... both times calling someones all in pre-flop with AA and lost to muck cards followed by nerd rage. I ended up with around $2000 before they were shut down.

i'm down about a grand this year. lots of bad beats and me subsequently hemorrhaging tilt money like an angry fire hydrant. there was a point where i was pretty good a year or so ago, making about 100 bucks a day for a good spell. cashed in the world series of online poker shorthanded event, beat up this chick pretty conistently when we were at the same table deep in the tourny:

when i had a big bankroll, at my peak, i would regularly play 10 cash tables at the same time, not doing to poorly at it. not losing money anyway. then i just went on a horrid spell, lost my bankroll, lost my confidence, took a break, and now here i am this year trying to get back to being a halfway respectable player. so far just no good. i fucking hate poker. i've broken more mice, keyboards, and monitors playing this shit than what is healthy.

Yeah, completely failed tonight. Had some pretty solid hands, bet well, but they always had better.

It's got me in a mood actually because I've been so bored all night and I ended up with nothing at all to do. :trashbear:

i've never played poker in my life. Is it actually fun or is it just a stupid game that everyone does?

i challenge you to name a "stupid game that everyone does" that isn't fun. that's practically the definition of fun.

It's a fun game. It's much more fun to play with mates around a table though. It quickly jumps between a good laugh and an intense stare-down.

The rules are relatively easy, it's just a matter of setting your limits and betting accordingly.

You can have different personas for every table though, usually depending on where you're sitting and who you're playing with. You can force people to play with you, steal small amounts, or sit back and dupe everybody.

playing with friends is a blast. it's a great excuse to sit around a table and converse... the poker part of it is almost secondary. playing in live casinos is also fun. much more thrilling to win a big hand, or pull an all nighter and meet lousy gambling lowlifes like yourself. playing online is just work. it's a grind. it's good for learning the game if you want to get good.

imo

yeah real money on pstars. its legal status for americans is more or less in limbo. not being enforced. most CC companies will deny your deposits but if you link directly to your checking account you can deposit/receive cash-outs no problem.

i've tried to avoid online poker, but i play regularly with mates. lots of beers, etc, all a great laugh.

bought into some tournments at dusk til dawn in nottingham too, although i've always been shitfaced.

i'd play anyone on here online though, if someone works out how to set it up.

i just looked into it. you have to have earned a certain amount of player points, then you have to email support to have them enable that option on your account (only for the person creating the table). i'll get on it, i should be able to create a table.
