Hi All,

Just thought I'd put my most recent track up for your delectation.

http://soundcloud.com/scarkord/glass

Quite a change of pace/style to my older stuff, but still sounds like me :)

Really pleased with the 'lift' in the final third of the track where it goes all big and orchestral before imploding on itself (You'll understand when you hear it). And nice to finally put some live drumming in a track too after many years of owning, but barely using my V-drums.

Hope you like it. Any feedback welcome!

Jason

very cool. the melody rocks and that percussion is just perfect. that third section really pulls it over the top too. overall, great track.

I find the strings disturbing (they sound like a bad mellotron patch and their melody doesn't work for me), and the chord sequence too repetitive. Maybe you could use other chords in the 3rd quarter of the song...

Erm.... thanks... that's helpful (?)

They are actually VSL strings from the Kontakt library by the way but each to their own.

What matters isn't where they come from, it's what they sound like. They do sound better in the end of the track without all the intruments but we're far from that VSL demo I found on youtube (it is impressive). In your track these strings just don't sound like real strings, maybe the attack should be shorter on some notes. They sound like the same sample triggered at different pitches, not like people playing the melody. But apart from that I found production rather good, I like the synth sounds used and the drums work well, sorry for not telling in the first post, I tend to focus on what frustrates me :)

Thanks - some good suggestions there. Will try and hunt out the VSL demo for some inspiration :)
