DJ Harrison

Anyone ever listen to the artist from Richmond, Virginia named DJ Harrison. I learned of him from an end-of-the-year favorite albums list that Skee Mask posted. Been listening to his works a lot and find it really delightful and fascinating. From what I can gather, he is an aces musician who plays drums, bass, and keys, but he is a real artist with the tape machine. I've listened to all of his stuff on spotify but prefer the album Stashboxxx best so far. Really digging the song 'Ooh Girl'

Was kind of curious what everyone else thought, and if you know of any other artists who are all about magnetic tape. I really like Patricia a lot for that aesthetic too.

I forgot how I came across but yeah he's legit

Bunch of stuff off 100% Silk, Opal Tapes, Lobster Theremin and 1080p is tape heavy house and techno. 1991, Palmbomen II, Cyclist, Metro Riders and Legowelt also all come to mind.

Thanks man, haven't heard of any of that stuff except Legowelt. Just popped on a 100% Silk playlist, currently working my way through Ital, really cool.

I came across his music via a madlib mix iirc..  In particular this album, where he's playing/layering all 3 parts of a jazz trio.  Its not like most of the other beat stuff on his bandcamp but its dope.

Need to check his other stuff.  Lemme know your favorite release to buy...

Damn, I didn't realize how much music he has. Thanks for the link. Only a few of these are on spotify. I've listened to HazyMoods and can vouch for that one. I doubt any of his releases are not solid, though. Haven't yet heard a song that I didn't want to potentially hear again from his musics. The real tape saturation on his kick drums is really sick on some songs.
