Interesting M meets Plaid interview. I can't say that I'm surprised by any of what they have said, but unfortunately I am still stuck in the past with their sounds. Of course I've liked much of their material since they have crossed over into a dominant digital environment, but it's not quite the same. From recent memory both "Host" and "The Melody Remix" are on the opposite side of the spectrum. No doubt they are burnt out from using the same drum machines/synths all these years, but I think they can still give us a lot more to appreciate with them. Sometimes less is more. They are still able to easily give me goosebumps from their melodies (Strata 3), but it's that old material I've heard hundreds of times that is still able to consistently do it.
I'm stilling waiting for Scintilli in the post, so no expressions yet, but did they use their 808 or 606 on the album? Ed and Andy's drum-programming is severely underrated in the community IMO.
