  1. Read Hesse's Siddhartha again after about 10 years. Seems like a completely different book now, lol. Interesting.

And just got this delivered by the postlord.. shit is gonna get heavy.

Lulsy. Maybe the least scary horror movie I've seen. Frogs hopping around and people falling to their seemingly accidental deaths. The movie tries to spin this into some kind of "nature is revenging" theme but the production and acting are so bad it's just comical. Even the poster is scarier than anything in the actual movie. 5/10 for accidental comedy. Pretty tedious but it's not very long.

  3. This is from my winamp at work. I usually listen to vinyl at home or mp3 player in other places. I skipped my own tracks, because that would have been like the first 12 tracks.. lol.

So, at work I like to listen to a lot of Atom TM, Boards of Canada, Grischa Lichtenberger and NHK^Koyxen.

At home I think this would be more ambient, Team Doyobi and Autechre oriented, but I have no statistics from there. Partly because I listen to most of them from vinyl.

  4. Yeah, I guess it's the Facebook angle I don't get. Some AR system similar to Google Glass would make ten times more sense than full VR for FB. WTF?

My friend ordered the dev kit 2 so I'll probably get to try it when it comes.

  5. This whole hype with Oculus Rift puzzles me a bit because the thing with VR like this is that the use cases are limited. It works with FPS and some simulator games but for example why would you go shopping in a virtual mall if you can just browse the catalog and buy by clicking? Also the social networking sites seem to be popular partly because the communication is asynchronous so that the participants don't need to be actively online all the time during the interaction. The "let's go hang out in a virtual space together" probably works some of the time, but all the participants need to be 100% focused on it because the VR shuts out the rest of the world around the users. Also if you want an audiovisual chat with somebody then there's video conferencing for example via Skype.

Another thing is that the internet usage is moving fast away from home computers to smart phones and tablets, which are handy because you can carry them everywhere. The Oculus Rift might be nice for some commuting but it's still bulky to carry around. You can' just stuff it in the pocket of your trousers.

The nerds and hardcore gamers are obviously excited by VR (and may be the target audience) but I want to see some clear use cases where this is worth the investment for a regular internet user to justify the hype.

  6.

Anyone who can make it through this video is a god

lol actually I could probably watch a few season of that. It really amps up how lonely and sad their lives are.

Yeah, lol, that is better than the original. I like dark humor.

Edit: It's a bit like Garfield minus Garfield in the sense than when you remove the forced comical aspect it becomes funnier.

  7. I played some Oversteps tracks to a Malagasy pimp/hustler/whatever (he seemed to be doing all kinds of business) in a bar in Madagascar. He didn't really care for them. What he really wanted from me was to fix his Android tablet. He also tried to hook me up a with a girl but I declined.

Also, this tidbit from the conversation was pretty funny.

Him: What kind of work do you do?

    Me: Software.

Him: You mean like t-shirts? *pinches his own t-shirt*

He also gave me his email address so I could give it to Scandinavian girls.
