  1. good news for anyone who was wondering how we were going to solve the opioid epidemic:

    Quote

A federal appeals court cleared the way for the maker of OxyContin to settle thousands of legal claims tied to the opioid epidemic while shielding the wealthy owners of Purdue Pharma, the Sackler family, from future lawsuits.

Under the plan approved Tuesday by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York, members of the Sackler family would give up ownership of Stamford, Connecticut-based Purdue, which would become a new company known as Knoa, with its profits being sent to a fund to prevent and treat addiction.

Family members would also contribute $5.5 billion to $6 billion in cash over time, or around half of what the court found to be their collective fortune, much of it held offshore. A chunk of that money — at least $750 million — is to go to individual victims of the opioid crisis and their survivors. Payments are expected to range from about $3,500 to $48,000.

Tuesday's decision also protects members of the Sackler family from lawsuits over the toll of opioids, even though they did not file for bankruptcy.

this was terrible. the marketing says "from the studio that brought you john wick" but clearly not the same brains. there's also so much post production happening you'd think the entire country was asked to contribute in retouching things up so they looked as "not real" as possible.

That's amazing. I wonder if some people will use this tech in crazy cyberpunk ways.

One thing I simply cannot stomach about Nebraska's film posts is that he never says where he found/watched those movies, cause I can never fuckin find them anywhere xD

amazon prime and tubi.tv have been very good to me. see how far you can make it into this film.

despite all the hype, this wasn't very good mainly because screenwriting is not the strong suite of stunt actors trying give their characters backstories. very funny guys.

hold it together man! at least it's not us yet. can you imagine when it comes to our generation to check out? we'll go out en-masse.

these old fogies are checking out at a bad time and leaving us in the middle of this mass extinction shit they started. we don't have long to enjoy earth.

Florida is openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals. Before traveling to Florida, please understand that the state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by African Americans and other communities of color.

We will not not allow our rights and history to be held hostage for political grandstanding. The NAACP proudly fights against the malicious attacks in Florida, against Black Americans. I encourage my fellow Floridians to join in this fight to protect ourselves and our democracy. (edited)
