Send a mail to Blerp, customer support is on point.

i'll try to clean it up properly first, the grooves might be dirty... but yeah, when i received warped NTS sessions discs they immediately sent a new batch to me

i only listen to music in scientific environments. the first thing i do is request that the mayor shut down the city, so as to eliminate the intrusive sounds from my surroundings. next i assassinate the local wildlife as they are known to produce unwanted sounds. then i go into my anechoic chamber where i have my cloud and drive set up so that i can listen to "digital vinyls," a medium so flawless christ himself is like "hey dad send me down there again i want to check out digitals." in this way i experience the most proper, efficient, convenient, superior, immaculate hearings and receivings of sound.

is your copy of digi-vinylz ok tho?

Unfortunately tinnitus also provides “surface noise” for all listening...but usually not if the soft-vinyl variety!

at least you can listen to tri rep without having to own a turntable for the "complete" experience ?

Why do you collect them ? very neutral, non-polemical question from a curious guy who bought SIGN LP without having a turntable

to me it's an artefact, a physical representation of the music, i enjoy the ritual of sitting back and putting the needle on the record and listen, (to me) it's a very different experience than mp3/flac/whatever due to those reasons... still, i do listen to digital maybe 95 % of the time because of the convenience

then there's a collector mentality, as i music nerd, i just like to have them and look at them i guess

from sonical point of view i expect it to be listenable, i don't expect perfection, my copy of SIGN suffers too much from the accompanying noise to the point it's very distracting... i never had the same problem with any AE record before

I was going to make a comment about the 'joy of vinyl' or some such but ultimately we are all liable to our chosen myths.

idk what you're talking about, sorry, i've never said anything about vinyl providing superior quality or any other "myth" you're hinting at, that's not the reason i collect them at all

^i still can’t believe people produce/buy vinyls and expect audio quality. nothing against you eclipsis, just in general...it’s such a silly, inconsistent, long outdated format. i’ve bought hundred of CDs and they all still sound immaculate.

I expect clicks and pops here and there as all the records I've bought last 10 years (and prior AE records for some reason sound the best of them all), not a full on noise barrage.

  8. So, first listen is behind me. My copy is kinda fucked up. Sides A to C suffer from a LOT of surface noise (complete with surface noise, amirite? nah, disappoint). I don't see any scratches tho. I'll try to clean it later. Hope it's just my copy and you're all alright guys (let me know). Music-wise I can't comment much. Didn't feel as easy listening as some of you say. I would say on the contrary in my case. This was the hardest Autechre related listen to me yet. I need more time with the album.

They usually ship with card as standard, for those who like to purchase from a record store....

Oh yeah, that makes sense, lol.

Pretty cool that you got your copy already in Czech land, nothing here in the UK!

    Huh, that's weird.

I think most everyone read it as such, but in forum banter acronyms for the lols obv

The thing is I've seen it on another forums that people started making acronyms based on that sentence from the interview.

I think everyone's trying to say initialism or acronym tbqh

Oh, I see, like (name) initials or something. Makes more sense now.

    Just now, very honest said:

software term. starting signal for something.

Well that's what I thought but the sentence didn't make sense much and I didn't get how ppl arrived to abbreviation from that.

I feel like SIGN, especially compared to the last 2 "albums" and last album-album, has a very distinctive character all on its own, it's its own world in that respect; it purposefully sticks to a certain corner of the Autechre sound world. Whereas NTS was (I recall being said in interviews) supposed to be like a radio show where you got lots of different aspects of the Autechre sound. In many respects I felt this also to be the case with Exai (one of the reasons I love it so much) and also, but to a lesser extent, with Elseq (which, for me at least, has a slightly more uniform character - I'm sure other people feel differently).

Exai + L-event was originally planned to be released as a series of five EPs but ended up as an album (Exai = 4 vinyl discs) and an EP (L-event = 1 vinyl). Fun fact: L-event vinyl package fits into the Exai box along with the four discs.

srsy tho sign will keep me occupied for a good while fo sho, but in case of ae to me it's always the more the merrier, probably spoiled by elseq/NTS excesses.

Yeah, I get you. I just feel like people are focusing too much of their attention on something that's not really confirmed (doesn't currently exist) instead of a fresh new album they have at their disposal. I.e. not living in the present but always looking for something new and shiny ahead. That 'never enough' mentality.
