It also sounds ISS:SA-esque and Sublimit-esque kinda

There's always a strong feeling of "family resemblance" with Autechre's work, so totally getting comments around ISS:SA, Draft and Confield...

ecol4 really makes me think of Tangle Ill, from 28 seconds onwards. Was searching like mad yesterday, thanks for the reminder.

(edit) Going to have to listen to ISS:SA now.

blugh gotta work while listening to this for the first time but hell it is what it is. that track with the cowbell sounded really cool.

    also vinyl ordered ofc

Same here, managed to find a gap to listen though, but keeping having to speak to people. Tiring. Need a special Outlook Autechre auto message to let people know delays should be expected with all responses, when new Ae drops.

  3. Really enjoyed the last two albums. The preview tracks are pretty good, more of the same, but it works.

Caught him live in 2016, when they extended the dates for the London portion of the tour. Great gig.

    Dinked version from Transmission: https://transmissionrecords.co.uk/product/john-carpenter-lost-themes-iii-alive-after-death-exclusive-numbered-vinyl/

Turin is so groovy WTF it's the best

I've listened to it a few times today. Just put on for a final run tonight, on Save at the moment.

I'm really liking this album. A lot. Might be my favourite album from him so far.

2020 might be a hot mess, however, I've enjoyed having a legit reason to stay in and listen to music. Some great albums released this year.

maybe we should start a magazine company to bring idm to highschools. along with idm horoscope, and articles like:

"which idm track for a first date"
"For girls: what is this strange noise Boys are listening to?"
"Is he cheating on you with Trap?"

    it's a goldmine

What's the submission process? I have a few pieces I'd like to pitch.

I feel your pain; absolutely none of my physical friends listen to Autechre.  Boards, check.  Aphex, check.  Meat Beat, check.  etc, but Autechre has proven too obtuse.  'tis nice to share the experience with folks online, at least.

Yeah, even online can be good, if it's the only option open. I've only dipped into this forum over the years, but it's always interesting to see strong felt experiences, positive and negative, especially for SIGN.

  7. Totally in love with this album. I'm finding that I'll listen to it all each time, rather than dipping into specific tracks; probably some conditioning from NTS, and Elseq.

It's been nice sharing the listening experience with friends, haven't been able to do that with an Autechre album since 1995. Mentioning Autechre is usually met with eye rolls.

"crowded market"- yeah.. fuck off guardian.  sounds like that spotify ceo´s comments about musicians having to adapt to (his) market

I really don't get/or see the point of reviews anymore, at least in "trad" publications like that anyway. Pointless. Sure it's just an extension of marketing, and Warp gotta send those demos out...

After the live stream I immediately headed out into the woods for a walk.  I usually listen to music but I just needed to be with my thoughts.  Walked a couple miles and all I could think was how fucking heavy that was.

I can see this being a good walking album.  Looking forward to a nighttime stroll tomorrow by the Thames.

Finally ordered 7.2 vinyl to complete the set. One of my favorite Autechre as well.

I would love to own this on vinyl, it's most vexing Warp haven't repressed this part of the catalogue.

While my fave period of Autechre is from the start to whenever they finish, EP7 always blows my mind, still sounds fresh to my damaged ears.

my take was that as an album Several Shades could have used a bit of trimming, but it makes sense that it was originally released on 3 separate lp's.  i really love a few tracks off that one.  i'd also rec the eps he put out from '17-19

Cheers. I had a quick listen of Several Shades today, just picked it up. What I perceived as a jump from the Opal Tapes releases to Maxyboy makes a lot more sense now. Will check out the EPs too, not sure why I slept on all this stuff for so long.

this post made me go back and listen to several shades of the same colour. enjoying it immensely now.

Is that worth a listen? Patricia sorta dropped of the radar for me, but I just picked this up. It's perfect heatwave weather music. First run through and I'm liking this more than first  tow releases on Opal Tape, and they were fantastic.
