  1. i didn't say it was shit, i said that visually speaking i didn't enjoy it...
  2. the fly - who would have guessed how cool jeff goldblum acting skills were in the past... movie starts pretty solid but gets a bit silly along the way... 7/10 naked lunch - not much words can be used to describe the amazoness of this movie 9/10 wake in fright - someone recommended this as an alternative to american movies of the same genre, i liked it, although is just as silly as the rest of'em... 1984 - yeah boring as hell, could have been a fantastic sci-fi movie but it didn't do much for me, maybe i didn't understood it totally... 6,9/10 the idiots - my first experience with dogme 95, no i don't like this kind of cinema... it's not even film in my book, it's a story, that someone recorded with a camcorder, someone who wasn't even a cameramen lol
  3. first of all i wanted to understand it... first interrogation scene on his house is genius!!! it's a shame i couldn't keep much track of what happened next... but it's visually stunning!
  4. 3 artsy movies i recommend: DARIO ARGENTO'S TENEBRE DARIO ARGENTO'S SUSPIRIA DARIO ARGENTO'S PROFONDO ROSSO
  5. (SOME RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE "ARTSY FILMS" THREAD) PLAYTIME - 9/10 ON THE SILVER GLOBE 9/10 THE TRIAL 9/10 ALL ABOUT LILY CHOU CHOU 8/10
  6. [youtubehd]VFehxah7zHg[/youtubehd] make sure to watch the rest of the series: can't stress this enough, seems like no one cares about it...
  7. i guess most of you don't even read the initial post of each thread, now both these threads are merging: http://forum.watmm.com/topic/77320-post-your-favorite-artsy-movies/ this thread was first intended to animation... edit:: okay i also fucked it
  8. yes, lush camera work, nice DP and all, but damn, boring as hell... i'm not a scorsese fan...
  9. i really like death proof, really really, love kurt russell!!! i think it's one of those movies where you have nothing to complain about except maybe you don't find it a very interesting story or shallow or whatever, but damn, it's an action b-movie, someone who expects an action movie to be intelligent is fooling himself......
  10. pulp fiction jackie brown inglorious basterds django unchained this one is tough, pulp fiction is kinda perfect, no boring times, at least for me... jackie brown is great but i got the impression that there were some holes in the plot, inglorious basterds has some of the best cinema scenes ever specially the ones featuring CW, and django, well, i guess it's not as elegant as the rest, if it wasn't for CW i really didn't knew what to make of it... oh i forgot about Pescy, i liked him!
  11. compliance - well, i didn't know it was based on a true story, lol, i guess i forgot it cause it is well stated at the beggining, so, i watched one of the most retarded scripts ever, guess what??? it really happened... lol killing them softly - my main disapointment with this movie was that the main characters weren't at all likeable, or maybe it was just sloppy acting, or maybe incomprehensible/inexplicable behavior... the main story was not (imo) interesting, unless it had deep characters a la tarantino! which it didn't... :( i can't go higher than 7/10 taken 2 - lol the impossible - nice thriller, some facepalms, gets you wondering more about if it actually happened that way or if it's just sensationalist... 5 or 6?/10 arbitrage - solid movie, nothing to see here, go on, next... 6,9/10 zero dark thirty - politics, war, terrorism, it's one of those movies where i can't really opine... visually it was not stimulating... seven psychopaths - liked this one, don't over analyze it, nice acting here and there, it might look like a tarantino arc but it's not, i mean, don't compare it, or else you'll dislike it... 7/10 casino - bleh, godfather VII the aviator - can't quite recall a lot but remember liking it and thinking about a strong 7 almost 8... flight - this dude can act right, i hate him, but i guess he can act, loved the 20 thriller minutes but then it just went yadda yadda law suit whatsoever...
  12. comedy 3 2 1 frankie go boom this is 40 silver linings playbook the liability stand up guys here comes the boom celeste and jesse forever horror/fantastic john dies at the end chained berberian sound studio in their skin the collection sinister i didn't care for any of those movies... props to berberian sound studio, thanks to it i started digging a little more on giallo cinema...
  13. lol, so much politics, this is hollywood, i wonder what you have to say about zero dark thirty... end of watch doesn't works quite well if you over think it, it's simply popcorn rush, that works during one and an half hour and that's it... end of watch!!! i dunno, for me it seemed that it wasn't trying too hard to be anything special thus i didn't felt undelivered...
  14. lol The criticisms of Wendy and the performance by Duvall are subjective but even I think they have merit. This nonsense about the "black guy" reveals your own shallow reading, not a fault in Kubrick. i do know you know it was a joke so i don't know what you know that makes it unknown...
  15. well, you're right, but damn, i could pick on stuff like that on almost every movie i watch, even godfather, lol, what a piece of shitty crap blockbuster...
  16. is like picking on a B/W movie because it lacks reds... a deep hollywood movie? there's no such thing... compson is on the spot!
