  1. I tried to get my dad into venetian snares (for him the pinnacle of music is prog rock like Yes, Hawkwind, Ozric Tentacles or stuff like Japan, Tubular Bells, Stereolab) by playing him Flashforward quite loud while we were laying down paving slabs in the garden outside. He said he liked it at first but then it really started to piss him off. He's right, it does start well. He calls him venetian blinds. Which is how funk got the name; from a story about people who'd been strangled to death by venetian blinds. At one point I was so into venetian snares and other electronic music that I was that delusional about it being so virtuosic people would take to it straight away and realise it's incredible-ness. But people don't listen to music in the dark, it's put on at average volume while doing something else and his music just irritates when played that way. For me it's like watching Lionel Messi taking control of a football and dribbling with it. I really want to start a 'Venetian Dads' project now, where people just play Vsnares to their parents and chronicle the results
  2. well for me listening to vsnares is like watching bob ross paint, i just really vibe with the guy Weirdly I do see what you mean, playing through a bunch of tracks here and sort of finding a groove. Initially it's like 'woah' and then it really clicks.
  3. This thread has sent me on a Vsnares binge. Prior to now I've only heard a few tracks off Rossz and a handful off Doll Doll Doll. I still remember hearing the sample in 'All The Children Are Dead' and thinking 'the fuck?' Essentially for me the Vsnares appeal lies in the fact that there's not a great deal else out there that hits the intensity level of, say, Die Winnipeg. It's like the soundtrack for making things collapse under the force of your rage. Plus the fact that for 90% of people, playing a Vsnares track to them triggers an almost visceral reaction of intense revulsion, lol.
  4. Great thread. This was originally a picture of Thomas Roberts Malthus, an economist, that I was doodling on with a red ballpoint in a class years ago. Decided to scan it in, liked how it came out. Occasionally comes up on my background switcher and scares the balls out of me.
  5. Fixed a broken hinge on my laptop which was an incredibly minor thing but it means I don't have to pay for a repair or whatever, which is nice. Going to be graduating pretty soon, which feels weird. Joined the watmmz
