Binged through the Hannibal seasons and enjoyed it very much. Mikkelsen's take on Lecter is great. Strangley bloody and brutal for a network show. And with the pretty cinematography it feels like a HBO-type show.

One of the most sophisticated TV shows I've seen in a while. Intellectually stimulating, aesthetically intriguing, every scene is somptuous, the dialogues are clever, the storyline is mostly unpredictable but credible and Mikkelson has nailed it 100 %. Up there with True Detective and Breaking Bad, as far as I'm concerned.

pretty curious to see where season 3 goes. quality tv.

They should do a "meanwhile, over in Iceland" episode, where everyone is fine and doesnt have a clue about the zombie apocalypse going down, other than the fact that the rest of the world seems to be not worrying them and they are cool with that.

The show should have always been about a complete world view, not a shite microcosm of Georgia. Would have been 2 expensive to do though.

Games of Thrones begs to differ. Their investment seems to have paid off.

    Got a point there.

I totally disagree about the setting though. Maybe just not having spent much time in the South, the mystery and wildness of it (e.g. the sparseness of the buildings, the backwoods moonshine operation) serves the mood of the story really well for me. Limiting the changes in scenery also improves focus on the characters.

Another valid point. But the sparseness has worn out it's welcome for me. I'm tired of this church in the middle of nowhere, this prison (in the middle of nowhere), etc (in the middle of nowhere)...It's just becoming this or that set piece in a forest. But whatevs.

Feltcher had a valid point about the final point you stated above. But yes, focusing on characters is the reason the show is the way it is. It's unfortunate I don't really care about any of the characters though. Well...except Daryll...he's dreamy

  4. We need a kickstarter to get Rich/Warp to release the pre-master WAVs. I've noticed I really prefer listening to this album on headphones. It just doesn't sound as good on my speakers, which are somewhat decent. Maybe there's a lot of subtle phase shit that glues it together. Maybe the album was produced and mixed mostly on headphones, more so than earlier works? I dunno. The waveforms don't lie, though. They do not lie.

Definitely sounds best on headphones. Everything just sounds so buttery this way.

the last one wasn't too bad actually, though i don't understand why they decided to spend about 2/3 of the time to dwell on the dying of the character no one cares about.

Yeah, it started to feel like filler. I felt bad for Sasha though.

I think they were spending time with Bob to use his monologues to juxtapose the brutality in which they dispatched Gareth & crew. Bob taking the humanistic, somewhat optimistic vision when facing death contrasted with the stabby, stabby of Rick & Sasha (losing their humanity). Ofcourse it was done in the haphazard way the walking dead does that kind of thing. Also, I was drunk while watching & may have imagined whatever the hell synopsis I'm writing about.

  6. So Beerwolf been a good boy. Still have a few beers but feeling lean and feeling keen. Bit like a racing snake at the moment.

When I've had time off from work I've been climbing hills, cycling valleys, walking in the wind.

However my fine legendary fellow watmmer's I have a few days off and today I have drunk

    2 bottles of Asahi Black (5%) 330ml

2 bottles of St Austels Proper Job (5.5%) 500ml

    1 bottle of Thatchers Katy (7.4%) 500ml

1 bottle of Aspall premier cru (7%) 500 ml

    1 bottle of Thatchers 2013 vintage (7.4%) 500 ml

1 bottle of Caplin & Corks somerset reserve (6.8%) 500 ml

ahhh, after the first surprisingly decent episode we finally get the real turgid and tedious shittiness of walking dead we've all grown to love and missed a lot. the last scene felt a lot like something of out tim and eric's bedtime stories.

lol totally. this show is something of an exercise in self-abuse.

But didn't you get all warm & fuzzy when this happened...

Why is dumbass Bob carving x's into trees and crying?

i thought maybe he had a wound from the food shelter that he was concealing and had gone out to kill himself, or walk away before turning. just another character doing something that makes no sense.

Yea, I looked at that as an option at first, but then they pan into the slash in the tree. I assume they were alluding to him being the one Xing the trees for somebody, which he feels bad about & makes him all cry-e. But, to your point, that would fast track the cannibal story very quickly (as they will turn) & move on to another antagonist.

Anyone else giving the album a break after a few weeks of constant listening?

My break-music of choice is Pearl Jam.... been rocking out for a week and will for another few more before hitting "Syro" again big-time. I fucking haven't listened to PJ since college (late 90's) so am loving the first 5 albums and the newer shit too. Fucking is this what they call Dad-rock? Bring it!

If you're on a 90s rock vibe you should try Clutch. They rock are still around and are amazing. Worthwhile tracks are Profits of Doom, Army of Bono and 10001110101.
