correct me if I'm wrong but studio recordings and live shows are two completely different contexts and I don't see how not enjoying one would make you not enjoy the other
i turn your statement around. I saw an artist last week and was deeply impressed by his live show and now his last LP is my fav. of the year so far, before that i couldn't really get into it.
so i suppose this can happen the other way too
i enjoyed GOD and the live show I went to was excellent.
Enjoyed the new album too, but live it was very lacklustre (maybe it has to do with the setting since it was at a open air festival?). It was all quiet and tame like a bon iver show. But Jlin played at the same stage the day before and she absolutely destroyed it
Plus the sight of the keyboardist playing with her hair every 30 seconds and taking crowd pictures with her phone during the songs made it even worse

I went to his GOD show and it was excellent with Nate Boyce. And it was piercingly loud
this happened for me with GoD!! The show was terrible. What was wrong this time? The recording at the Armory was A++Just got back from his show at Primavera.
Kind of ruined everything for me. No more live band please
Gonna take a few months to recover then I'll listen to that album again on headphones

fuck i think i overshot with my p4k rating, it's rare that they rate higher than other publications especially when it comes to stalwarts like OPN and autechre (god they are pricks to ae)
EDIT: unless it's a really obvious klassik then they don't want to look dumb
once again i retract an opinion in this thread and i am now offering 7.6. i know someone already picked this number so if it's on point you win all the gold.
P4K are suckers for autotune so they will give it a 9.1

i'm only just getting into Actress properly. i've listened to and enjoyed his stuff before but it hasn't really stuck in my memory. recently though it's completely resonating with me. on first listen i'd say this is better than Ghettoville and Hazyville but not quite reaching R.I.P. or Splazsh levels.

was hoping for him to play this when I saw him in London last year. he played mostly GOD songs and music for steamed rocks... nothing else. He played in London last month too but not sure if this was played...

May need to start trawling the YouTubes and test uploading to Merlin in order to see if any of the live gems make it on this album. I'm hopeful that the plucked Ovaley sound of this banger means it might make it. I've been caning the shit out of it for nearly 2 years now. The climax at 2:43 causes involuntary devil horns
I remember this lovely gem. After Four Tet's comment on the album sounding like "EDC 2018", I'm 99% sure it'll make it on there.
