  1. Bowie - Station to Station

fucking strange album, listened to it many times and it reamins some weird enigma to me. this is when he was doing loads of coke and slightly losing the plot. Its highly rated by some Bowie fans but probably not the same ones who like Let's Dance! (though I like both)

even when the 'pop hit' Golden Years comes on mainstream radio at work I always listen to it and think that's a weird fucking tune, it seems slightly mournful and sad...

definitely an album which will reward further time and effort

LOVE A side on this, especially TVC15

  2. I heard a train coming, and, for some reason, being completely socially inept, barked “YO BARACK!”, and walked over to shake his hand and, well, I hadn’t figured out what I was going to say. Probably something equally as stupid. When I got to him, he put down his briefcase, put out his hand, looked at me with a pause, smiled, and said:

    “Benn, right?”

    Yo Flahblub!

    • Haha 1
  3. stuck down the shack, pissing down with rain outside, bit bored tbh so I'll kill some time here...

last few albums I wacked on (apart from Aphex of course) were according to Spotify (I'll miss out the dodgy ones :whistling: )

Pink Floyd - The Division Bell - Weird as this is a first play and I was a Floyd fanatic when this came out (back in the day when you had to buy an album to hear it) I guess I spent my pocket money on something else. Really enjoyed listening to it. Seemed a lot better than Momentary Lapse of Reason which is the same kind of line-up/era.

Iron Maiden - Brave New World - A friend of mine who's obsessed with Maiden told me this was a return to form and I should check it out as I'm pretty big fan of albums like Seventh Son and Somewhere In Time. Listened to first 3 tracks, and felt vaguely ridiculous while doing so, then did myself a favour and pulled the plug. Horseshit.

....And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead - Source Tags and Codes - Another first play, seemed fucking awesome, I think I had the first album when it came out and wasn't that much into it. Looking forward to re-spinning this asap.

Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights (10th Anniversary Edition) - Classic

Jesus Lizard - Goat - First play, thumbs up!

Richard H Kirk - Virtual State - Never heard any Cabaret Voltaire or any of Richards music before (even though I'm aware of them) after watching the documentary Synth Britannia I decided to rectify this and plumped for this album as it's on Warp (for obvious reasons). Wasn't expecting something as good as this! An excellent album, very surprised indeed. Bit of an under-the-radar Warp classic.

Still pissing down, Over and Out

Love Virtual State. Check out his Sandoz alias next, and then the album Nitrogen - Intoxica.

And for AT himself do you think he is glad to know his fans behave in such ways? No wonder he likes his privacy...

who cares what afx thinks? this message board contributes to him making money so he's probably thankful in the first place but if he's not, who fucking cares?

Well, considering many people are here because of their love for the man's music, don't you think his opinion of how his fans behave should be slightly important to them, especially on a fan forum, where their collective behaviour is a reflection on him?

I can say that in the past when WATMM was more "Wild West", many of the artists distanced themselves from here because of the behaviour of the members and the general vibe the place was giving off. Thankfully we've righted the ship, but there's always a few still trying to rock the boat without thinking of the consequences.

it's not like fans are sales reps of musicians. this place is not about boosting warp's sales or anything, is it?

people here express their personal opinions. i get that a musician wouldn't want to be associated with opinions he disagrees with but at the end of the day, it's just opinions. no harm done. except for sales perhaps?

Agreed. However, when the comments are racist or belittling to others, it crosses a line.

  5. well nice and social and all and great to have so much new music, but can't we just get a zip-DL with wavs/flacs to buy?

This site seems way to messy and with grey on black text?!?! :sini: (I guess we should be happy it's not light yellow on white... )

Is it way too unrealistic to hope for a green UI wav/flac release? :wtf:

Well it looks like red (TR 606) is coming soon, so I'd also expect green.
