I think you are being an ass if your first thought is "hey they are listening and commenting on her tune ONLY BECAUSE IT'S A GIRL". Her track might just be better too and more to people's taste.

That said I am sure girls (especially good looking IDM girls) will get more attention than doughy dads or pasty nerds, but is this attention because their tracks are good or is it because there are 1000 million horny men on the internet trying to creep and hit on them every time they post something. Like, they are not commenting because they like the track really.

Regarding appearances though - you are damn right this matters. No matter how good your tune is, you got to create the visuals or something else that will lure people to hit that play button. And not just lure people, lure the RIGHT people. Yeah maybe hot girls have it easy (or make it look like this), but nobody is entitled to people listening to their stuff just so.

Look man her tune was good but it wasn't great. It was decent but all that attention by mostly guys just undermines the art imo. I've seen it time and time again. I will totally respect a women's art if its good. Not only that I'll accept if she's more talented than you or I and I can think of lots of female producers out there who are better than me of course. My point is the bias you have to be blind not to see it now these days. ?

  2. Braintree with respect man I don't see there being anything getting in women's way of making good art. Least from my viewpoint there isn't. The only thing that makes a whole fiasco of it is when men start acting like they do for it undermines what women are trying achieve. Anyways that's how I see.

dont be naive man! You just can’t complete ? get over it

I know man but it just makes me sick to the stomach when people talk of equality and this kinda stuff happens just illustrates my point. Anyways I'm cool but just figured I'd vent as it was something that was eating me up a bit. You know I'm pretty laid back so I'll sleeping dogs lie lol.

  4. Well I think my original point was a fair point. 228 plays on this girl's tune and over 28 comments in just a day!!! My tune by comparison has a mere 18 plays and has been up for 8 days and received no comments on Facebook. It may sound like I'm jealous but my only point was how unfair the bias is. I'm just asking for equal treatment - what's wrong with that?

Dude I think you're getting my point twisted. ? Maybe I'm the exception but my point is music should be about talent / art and not how you look. I welcome women here of course 100% and I think women get my point too.

There is definitely a trend of female DJ's being in demand and this is a GOOD thing.  Most of them are deserve the attention and plaudits that they receive - but there are definitely a few showboaters who are just in it for the fame / instagram likes / sponsors.  The same can be said for the male DJ world though.

I guess what I am trying to say is: I'm all about equality.  If you are good at the job, then there should be no reason why you cannot succeed at it.

100% agree with this. Anyways I think I'll hold my tongue because it may appear I'm being sexist which I'm not. I just want there to be a level playing field for all. ?

"us guys" is the first issue of the OP, but certainly not the last. Do you really want this place to be nothing but men?

The irony is how closely this aligns to 3rd wave feminist principles of women being potentially put on a pedestal by a patriarchal system, but not for the work they do, but rather for base sexual desires.

The way to fix this is to get an environment where there aren't gendered imbalances to begin with. There's a whole lot to be done on that front.

Yeah I hear what you saying. I guess my point is that it was mainly guys commenting on her music lol and to be fair it wasn't too bad but the point is the bias is noticeable and I just feel its shallow. I'd rather the playing field be level for everyone but I guess that's just not reality.

In the grand scheme of things, women have had a much more challenging time establishing themselves as creatives in the music industry (let alone just about every other industry).

    also...

    Your name is "TheBro".

    Just sayin.

    Happy New Year! ?

Yeah my name is The Bro because that's what my sisters called me all the time so I adopted it lol. Its definitely not an macho thing or me being ironic lol. Makes me think maybe I should be ironic about it though mm.

  9. Do you ever feel that girls get more attention when they make music than us guys? I'm not hating but I just feel its unfair and kinda shallow. My view is if you're talented you deserve the proper attention / respect and if you're not then I guess you don't. What do you lot of think? I just got cheesed off because a girl put up a track on Facebook page that I'm part of and it garnered tonnes of attention / listens where as when I put something up about an hour later no one listened to it. Seems kinda unfair. Anyways that's just my 2 cents.

Hope you all have a great new year.

    Blessings from The Bro.

I bought the TB-3 and thought it'd be fun to make some acid music even though I don't like it. This is what happened.

This is very cool Squee. You should submit it to Nurve. I think he'd dig it!!!

Bro, some of those playful chords are way out of tune.

I've listened to some of your newer tunes and the foundation is pretty solid, but every now and then you seem to improvise a lead and it doesn't always stick the landing imho. I'm digging the latest jungle track you've uploaded though as it's way more focused ?

This is the track I'm talking about

Thanks for letting me know Squee. I'll remove it from Soundcloud in that case. Cheers mate.

i also enjoy your acid videos with the family.  hearing the voices in the background creates an interesting layer against the acid.  also it's fun seeing your face as well ?

    Ha ha cheers. Big up!!!
