  1. Gave the Horizon 4 demo a spin on PC, and Playground Games weren't messing around when they said performance and optimisation would be far better than Horizon 3 was. I'm on the High preset and I'm getting buttery smooth 1080/60 (well, 1200 - 16:10 monitor). I don't think I've seen a better representation of the Great British countryside in a game since Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, but FH4 knocks it out of the water. It's actually quite surreal to be driving around in a space that's literally on your own doorstep!

  2. This just in - my replacement vinyl discs (all 12) arrived today.

Flat as a pancake this time thank goodness, and the pressing is exceptionally good.

Just a heads up though - while I wasn’t expecting them to necessarily send replacement sleeves, they have done.

They are, however, not the same sleeves as before. They are on lighter stock and don’t have the black embossed foil.

Not a complaint as I’m currently attempting to flatten my existing ones anyway.

Bleep really came through on this. Their customer service was excellent as always.

    RaeR version

Did you send back the whole set, or just the records?

  3. Dragon Quest XI is good times, mercifully the PC port seems to have emerged without any major problems. I'm 4 hours in running it on a non-super modern PC, and I can happily get 60fps @1080 the majority of the time. The character designs look brilliant, from lowly slimes to these chumps (these are in-game screengrabs):

Tha 'chre shirt just arrived. Really nice fit, material errs more on the silky side. Turbile epic casual(wear)

    What’s the fit like?

I’m a tall guy but I’ll usually wear a medium, sometimes large, however the elseq shirt felt like a small to me, couldn’t wear it (would sell it to anyone interested).

Close fit, but not tight... if you hover between two sizes generally, I'd opt for the larger.

Did you get the absolute unit size?

Nah, been cutting back on the pizzae. That takes me back...

Preparing myself for Dragon Quest XI... perfect for after work/dinner when I have an hour or so to spare before bedtime.

Seems I'm getting a copy of it on PC. I still have the two 3DS ones tucked away (VII & VIII), but I won't be able to resist firing up the first non-handheld singleplayer DQ since VIII on PS2. Feels like a perfect game to roll into the Autumn/Winter with!

Amen brother - last DQ I played was VIII and it was fantastic. This looks to be more of the same, and I have been dying for a good JRPG for ages now.

Pep mechanic seems so much better than the existing Tension mechanic. Now, you don't have to build it up - it gets thrown in at random. That offers a lot more variety in terms of boosting characters without having to waste turns trying to get decent Tension - that might get stomped out anyway - especially if you're in a boss battle.

Really looking forward to seeing all the slimes again
