two gigs in italy in the cities relatively close by to each other...weird

so the closest to me is about 600 km from here, and it's in autumn so no road trip flavor here, damn

These dates are leftover festival dates from 2020.

  2. Exactly. What point are you trying to get across with this anecdotal evidence you're presenting, other than trying to legitimate the invasion? Yes, a lot of armies, EU and otherwise, have neonazis amongst them, and that's an issue that should be monitored closely, but what are you trying to say?

  3. Then again there's all end, which feels more like a closer to the 8 hour thing. In some interview Rob spoke about being pleased with people going for full immersion.

Either way, it seems to work both as self-contained releases and a larger scale thing, so it says something about good sequencing. But does it even matter? You can engage with it in whatever way you like.

Why would you self-impose listening rules based on perceived artistic intent, if they're keeping you from listening :)

there's a segment in Disney's Fantasia (1940) with a very similar sequence to this - talking to "the soundtrack" with a vertical line, asking it to do things like a person. so i guess Walt Disney ripped this off? a NFBC film no less?

Kinda hard for a 1940 film to rip off a 1951 film :)

The first practical sound-on-film systems were created almost simultaneously in the USSR, USA and Germany.

    ...

In the 1950s, National Film Board of Canada animators Norman McLaren and Evelyn Lambart, and film composer Maurice Blackburn, began their own experiments with graphical sound, adapting the techniques of Pfenninger and Russian artist Nikolai Voinov.[2] McLaren created a short 1951 film Pen Point Percussion, demonstrating his work.[3] The next year, McLaren completed his most acclaimed work, his Academy Award-winning anti-war film Neighbours, which combined stop-motion pixilation with a graphical soundtrack. Blinkity Blank is a 1955 animated short film by Norman McLaren, engraved directly onto black film leader, combining improvisational jazz along with graphical sounds. In 1971, McLaren created his final graphical sound film Synchromy.

I think they have some goods songs regardless of their lacking artistic integrity or moral principles. I don't think they are outstanding or anything though.

Lacking integrity or morality of any kind :)

In an interview with The Daily Beast, Glass and four other women came forward alleging that Kath had sexually preyed on them when they were teenagers and he was in his mid to late twenties. With Kath using his fame in Crystal Castles and Kill Cheerleader to get in contact with them at a young age, the alleged victims stated that he took advantage of their naivety and supplied them with drugs and alcohol in order to coerce them into sexual acts.[17]

Glass later gave an interview with The Guardian and further elaborated on Kath's behavior towards her, commenting that he had thrown her out of a moving car, torn her hair out, lied about the nature of her rib injury, and had at several points gone against doctor's orders and made her perform after receiving a concussion. Kath also held onto Glass' passport and controlled her finances, never letting Glass have her own cell phone or credit card until a couple of years before she left. Glass also mentioned that if she ever thought of leaving Crystal Castles, Kath would threaten to replace her with someone "who's a better singer and who would put up with a lot worse than [she] would". After discovering that Kath had done similar actions towards other women, Glass felt it was her responsibility to come forward

  6. Finally revisited PLUS on a drive last weekend and absolutely loved it. I thought I'd grown tired of it a little, or felt that it was a little incoherent, but now it sounded absolutely fresh. I'd forgotten how good the tracks are and how much is going on in them. A bit of the acid jumped a little more into the foreground too. X4 is a beast, always get some vibe that it's somehow competing with drukqs

  7. ESTIMATED SHIPPING ON 19 NOVEMBER 2021 FROM UNITED KINGDOM.

Gonna have to wait for the local record shop to stock this. Been hearing quite a lot of Brexit tax horror stories.

  8. I recently decided to stop using Spotify (for obvious reasons) and switch to Qobuz, and to stop buying vinyl (mostly) and instead spend the same budget on digitals, so I can give more support to the artists I love and support more artists. Still making up for a lot of soulseeking in the past too, this feels about right.

Roon is great for integrating your own digital library with a Qobuz or Tidal subscription. It's all in one place now. Roon's metadata is pretty good too, makes me spend a lot less time on tagging & renaming music. It's far from perfect, especially for electronic music, but the development team seems really dedicated to improving their product.

All my music is on pCloud now, so there's one version of my library that's always synced & available when needed. I can just drag & drop new purchases straight into pCloud and it'll be in Roon and anywhere else the next minute.
