  1. Me newly remodeled kitchen has a brand new super wobbly refrigerator. Tried leveling it several different ways, had LG repair guy out and he said “i don’t know, man!” But if you knock on the glass, the inside lights up and you can see how messy your fridge is from the outside.
  2. If you have good quality vhs tapes, and the right type of vcr, you can get some stuff around 20 bit, I think. But those types of vcrs are rare. It’s similar to an adat type of recording, or Betamax, which can be “better” than cd quality. Of course there many other features with adat, but I think quality-wise it’s similar. The thing is- adat only seems really useful these days if you use it to expand an interface or whatever, in which case you probably can already get some type of 24 bit.
  3. Yep, I almost said that it looked like LFOs studio, must be some typo or something. Crazy
  4. Nice! I feel like there is a similar gear picture in the “warp:labels unlimited” book
  5. Yes, auto reverse is trash. What a lazy contraption, also. Just take it out and flip it.
  6. If you can find onkyo stuff cheap it’s amazing. I’ve had an integra for over 20 years that worked perfectly and had super clean playback. It’s in the repair shop now, but just to get cleaned, it still worked pretty decent before I brought it in. Other than that I would recommend any of the Sansui or Technics decks that came out in the mid 90s for component systems. They aren’t really “audiophile” so you can still get them cheap. I see jvc ones that are basically the same for like $10-20 at thrift stores all the time. The key is making sure the controls are digital and that you don’t have to physically push them down. But I think tape decks like onkyo and technics are still out there in thrift stores with cheap price tags, but they end up 10- 50 times more expensive on eBay.

    confield art

I don’t think that Confield is their best album, or best artwork, but I do feel like it’s the last album they made where the cover really matched the music. I don’t know- it just seems like a perfect fit. The early 2000s were really an odd time with album covers, I noticed a lot of bands making white covers around that time. Maybe a late 90s thing too. Definitely a dynamic era for graphic design. As for Amon Tobin- what a classic example of artwork that doesn’t go with the music. I love his music and his album covers, but it’s like opening up the steel doors on a Frank Lloyd Wright house and walking into a dusty old log cabin.
