it's true that first sentence in the press release really hurt to read.

The new album captures the music commissioned to score Richard Siegal’s Ectopia performed in 2021 by Tanztheater Pina Bausch with Shooting into the Corner (2008-09) by Anish Kapoor.

there's a big guy... big, tall german guy... some people think he's a little scary, maybe a little spooky... but the things he makes... germans you know.. they're famous for, well they're famous for a lot of things, some of those things we all know, we won't go into that, but the germans make a lotta good stuff, great stuff really. wonderful country. but this guy... ALVA... ALVA is his name... ALVA NO-TO... NOTO.. he takes his little computer and i dont know how he does it folks, but out come these sounds like you couldn't believe. little bloops, blips, oohhhss, aaaahhhhs -- all sorts of them folks, really wonderful stuff. all from this big quiet german guy you would never expect that

  3. I'm happy people are preserving this sort of thing. However upon listening to it, it sounds like every other person mucking about with electronic instruments from that era: various sounds squelching here, there and everywhere. Not particularly interesting or revealing although it wasn't "bad" and I didn't hate it. Have seen this get a LOT of coverage on "i have great music taste" twitter because it checks a lot of boxes for "I'm an ally with my media consumption for social media engagement" which is always a bit transparent and disappointing.

Rewatching Midsommar, I see it a bit differently from before. Dani was treated so indifferently by those around her from the start, and as much as the cult enacts immoral practices (murder, brainwashing), it fills the needs Dani always had - to be valorised for her innate kindness, awareness and strength, to have her grief shared and to receive genuine empathy and kinship, including genuine acknowledgement of grief and suffering, and for death and the raw flow of life to be incorporated into awareness.
